Re: Taking cable modem to friends house

said by LazMan:

For providers like TekSavvy, with multiple PoI's - the modem should work anywhere within the same PoI; but (most likely) won't work off a different interconnect point... Ditto for CMTS splits.

Im with TekSavvy, and Rogers moved me over from McNicoll POI to the new Comstock... I had to reboot the modem but it got a new IP range...

Rogers managed to set up Comstock's routers ... maybe they learned after the similar fiascos with Dupont.

I find it interesting. Rogers closed a lot of the old head ends in Toronto and is now building new ones ... the closest to what is now Comstock were MTKI (Kingston Rd), MTAG (Agincourt), and MTWX (Wexford - which incidentally is Vic.Pk to Birchmount, Eglinton to the 401 - another of the disappearing village names in Metro - Heck even the name Metro after 50 years is waning!)

Im really wondering what the boundaries of Comstock will be... Perhaps we can update that map of yours, with some locations of users who are on comstock.

Not sure how Rogers customers can find out though.
