Re: What is your game to-do list?

I'm with the others that are playing GW2 and nothing else at the moment. There's too much I want to accomplish in that game!

To Do List:

The Darkness 2 (almost done)
Crysis 2 (halfway done)
Dead Space 2 (halfway done)
The Witcher 2 (1/3 done)
Saints Row the Third
Torchlight 2
Fallout: NV
Two Worlds II and expansion
Orcs Must Die
FEAR 3
Rage

I miss Day Z

and whatever else I'm forgetting...

Maybe we're all saving up a huge Steam Collection to one day pass on to our first born.

I'm saving it for my retirement so I don't end up like those old guys who have nothing and just sit on their porch and rock back and forth, looking mean and scowling at kids.

I've been a big fan since the first release.
Which version do you have? I found Entrenchment to be a must have add on, Diplomacy, no idea, never bought it.
Rebellion is standalone, is basically all the previous sins, with better graphics, better pirate raids, more tech trees, larger fleets, and freakin' titan class ships. UI seems smarter, and each faction now has a rebel choice you can play as (hence Rebellion title). Although the rebel factions share most of their regular faction traits, no one shares the same Titan build out.
But it's a time killer. My first rebellion game on a med map, against 3 AI players, normal settings lasted 9 1/2 hours.
Some people find it too slow.

It reminds me of Civ4 in that I'd look at the clock @ 9pm, look again and it's 1:30am.

Friday Night: Magic: The Gathering FNM Draft
Saturday: Diablo 3/SC 2/BF3
Sunday: Diablo 3/SC 2/BF3

I just couldnt get into GW2. The game feels epic as a traditional MMO, which I wish it was. I really wanted to like it, but I feel so underwhelmed every time I play it. It keeps me right on the border of enjoyment, and if I force myself to sit down I actually enjoy myself.

However, the game doesn't make me think about it when I am not playing. I actually get an uncomfortable guilty feeling when I think about it. Like "I should be playing this, but I really dont want to" type of feeling.

My friend is the same way. He tried WvWvW for the first time last night, and found it very unsatisfying. The game, in our opinion, punishes you too much for dying. Part of the fun about something like WoW BG's was you could run into the middle of a battle with disregard for your own well being, maybe take someone out, die and 30 seconds later be right back in the fray.

You learned from those experiences and adapted your strategy to maximize your strengths and minimize your weaknesses. Even the ability to duel taught you a lot about which classes you needed to avoid and what to expect against them. Its beyond me why a game that is supposed to be centered around PvP (right?) wouldnt allow you to simply have a friendly duel against your buddy for bragging rights and rib poking. I used to enjoy grabbing some dinner and sitting in front of Ironforge (Orgimaar for you horde turds) and watching people duel while I ate.

The skills in GW2 feel badly designed as well. I love the whole weapon swapping/attunement/etc.. situation. I think its one of the most fantastic ideas in an MMO right now. But the fact that you basically learn all of your primary attacks within 15 minutes of playing a character (you could actually do this) makes you lose interest in your character after just a few levels with the same weapon type. What do I have to look forward to in leveling? A trait point in a passive ability and maybe getting a utility skill thats probably a another passive that I can use once every 45 seconds?

Now, I think the spells and abilities in the game are beautiful. The elementalist auto attack with a dagger in your hand is one of the coolest abilities I have seen in a game since the Bounty Hunter aerial rocket attack from SWTOR. But it loses its appeal when I am doing that same thing from level 1 to 80, and I am not learning anything knew at all.

Where is my Chaos Bolt, Bladestorm, Mortal Strike type sklls? Where is the ability when I hit a high level that makes me feel like a complete bad ass?

Anyways, enough of a rant on GW2. The sound in the game is epic, I love the deep bass in my brand new Bose headphones with my guardian, I love the jumping puzzles, I love the quest and the world events. GW2 is right on the cusp of being amazing, but I think its just a little too bland for my taste. I dont find myself thinking about various builds and visually fights in my head like I did with WoW or Diablo 2, or brewing different decks in my head like I do with Magic the Gathering (an amazing game, the paper verison, if you guys are looking for something that really puts a mental strain on you)

Ive rekindled my relationship with Diablo 3, the game is going in a very good direction and I am really enjoying myself again. Ive actually started farming Act 3 Inferno, and while I still have trouble with some fights, I can go through it without getting that angry frustrated feeling anymore.

I only enjoy the custom games on SC2, like Nexus Wars and Desert Strike. I dont have enough time to commit to being any good at 1v1 or 2v2.

I know my counters and those two custom games are much slower paced than the frantic click fest that is 1v1.
