Wow I have been gone for awhile. Thought I would add my two cents. I truly feel your pain cbobby. And there is really not much you can do about it. The only things you can do would be to get the data profile updated and hope it moves to a better tower. If not then get a custom home agent and maybe it will work better. I know how you feel as in my area every town around me has cable and dsl and it was as if they thought hmm should we go around this small town or go straight through it and save money in the long run? No.... lets go around it and make more money instantly. If you would like help getting better speeds cbobby I would be glad to help. As millenicom can only provide you support up to a certain extent. I am a computer technician and I know that an internet connection can only be as good as the computer is functioning. One thing that may be holding it back would be the configuration for the tcp ip settings they are usually a good start as by default windows xp isn't that great for getting good speeds for internet for its default settings. Anyways let me know and I will be back on here to respond or just pm me. Ohh by the way:

What a jolt of speed to bad it never stays stable at that here is a stable screenshot:

It just doesn't seem to be to stable at all. I keep getting fluctuations for some odd reason. But I guess 130Kbps is not too bad considering there is no other options instead of satellite.

Thanks for you response. But until Sprint upgrades more towers in my area, adding more capacity and backhaul, to service the number of SmartPhone devices they sell into the market, there won't be increase in my speed.

I've had this Millen Sprint service since 2008. When I first got it all I needed was a small flat panel ant pointed out the window at the tower. I was getting 1 to 1.5M down and .40K up.

As more and more smartphones came on the market the speeds and the signal strength deteriorated. I added (from Max Signal) and Amp and an ant that came as a package. This put things back to usable speeds. I was able to watch stuff on Hulu again.

Time went buy and the service got worse again. I bought a splitter and hooked up the Flat Panel to the Omni Ant....as per the specs (again Max Signal) for the Amp. Things got better for about 6 months.

Now you can see from my posts where I am. The signal is strong the speed is not most of the time. On weekends early and late at night I can get 1M and higher download and .80 up.

The problem is not in my set-up. I have spent several hundred dollars "enhancing" it. The problem is that Sprint does not have the infastructure to provide an acceptable level of service for the number of devices they sell into the market.

Plus I believe they are putting all their efforts into rolling out LTE 4G.
Here too (I just read a piece in the NYTimes today) they have been selling LTE Smart Phones in markets where they haven't even set up a LTE service.

I guess any decision made by a business must be right and legit. Even if it means "redlining" a number of potential customers by refusing to sell a service to them.

I'll continue to post speeds. There is another thread for VZ LTE that posts nothing but great speeds. Jack used to have thread for Sprint 3G speeds....and most of them were great too....but then there were more and more slow speeds posted. I'm just keeping up the tradition....though I've not seen anybody posting fast speeds on this thread.

"A custom HA"? That will do nothing for your speed performance. Your speed is determined by your equipment and the Sprint tower you are accessing. If your tower is loaded then your speeds will be lower.

Most of us on Sprint just use 255.255.255.255 as our HA and let the system choose it when we connect.

Right now my HA is in Belleville, MO and as an example I'm using Comcast in Richmond Va for my speedtest. It doesn't matter where it is.

If I switch my home agent from Chicago, IL to San Diego, California, and ping the same server for testing purposes, it will be terribly worse latency wise. What you could do, and this seems to help slightly, find the HA that 255.255.255.255 gives you, go the list and put the second address as your primary.

So for example -

68.28.145.76 Chicago, IL Area 4(255.255.255.255 assigns me this one.)
68.28.145.77 Chicago, IL Area 4(This is used is first goes down, however since most people are assigned the server ending in .76, .77 will have less load.)

Overall your speed will still suck, there is not much you can do, if anything, just some fine tuning on real specific networking concepts.

I imagine that 3G Upgrading has been abandoned as Sprint works furiously to bring 4G on line....

Yesterday I spoke to a tech rasing a new tower on the local water tower pad. Told me it was Sprint, "a temproary tower", and it was going to be 4G.

Tower will be 5M from me in the town of New Windsor proper.
