[Modem] 2wire wifi reboot

i have att dsl 6.0. my 2wire gateway (white one), over the last few days began to drop wireless connections and slow down to less than 1meg speeds. this morning, whenever any wireless connection is established it goes into a constant reboot cycle and wont stop unless wifi is disabled. ive tried resets, change ip address, change channel, called support only for them to tell me i need a new $100 modem. so has my modem crapped out on me or is there an issue with wifi on these 2wire gateways?

anyone else having issues with wireless causing reboots? never had any issues until recently.

also, if i need a new modem, would a netgear n300 gateway be better than the 2wire by pace? the netgear is cheaper, 79.99 at staples vs. 100.00 via at&t.

thanks for your help....

Do the Ethernet connections on the 2Wire work properly? When using Ethernet connection, are you able to connect to the internet without trouble? If you have a printer connected by Ethernet to the 2Wire, can you use a computer Ethernet connected to the 2Wire to print? What happens to Ethernet capability when WiFi is off? On?

yes, as long as the wireless is disabled, the ethernet connections work normally. but as quick as my laptop or xbox makes a connection via wifi..instant reboots.

Try switching the wireless mode to A or B (and not G), I seem to recall an issue with using wireless "G" on those models that caused a freak out with the modem.

i tried everything possible... crazy thing is, it did the same thing on a different 2wire gateway... which would explain the power supply issues ive read about on other forums.

att wanted $100 for a new gateway, i declined and found one at staples, netgear n300..which is working great so far. next day ups dropped off an att netgear 7550, which was unexpected and as far as i can tell, free. but as long as everything is working better than ever ill just keep the n300 online & the free one as a backup, just in case.

thanks everyone for your input
