New speed tierWe have just released a new speed tier in both network areas.
For Red areas, the Pro tier is 32/1 with 400GB and is $59.95/mo.
For Cogeco areas, the Pro tier is 30/2 with 400GB and is $59.95/mo. Also where available (ie D3 capable nodes) we have officially made the Advanced tier 20/1.5 keeping the price the same as it was for 16/1. For those that have temporarily received the 30/2 upgrade for the past month please expect over the coming weeks to be moved to 20/1.5. If you wish to keep this speed on the new Pro package instead just give us a call, email us at support@start.ca or PM me your account number and I can make the change.
We're continuing to work on still faster speeds and will post updates as available. |

said by bt:I think you mean 150M. As far as I understand, 150 is a new tier, not a replacement for 75. 150 also has limited availability so far and Rogers is using some sort of special modem for it. The latest rumour is that Cogeco's 55 is turning into 75, at least based on the speeds some people are reporting. Cogeco has a history of turning up a tier for a month or two before officially announcing anything. |

Ultimate is 150/10 "in select areas", and 75/2 (at the old Ultimate price) everywhere else. People on the 75/2 plan aren't being upgraded automatically because of the price difference. |

If 75/2 is still available and people aren't being automatically upgraded, 150/10 isn't really a replacement, now is it? |

It's more that 150/10 isn't available everywhere and 75/2 is grandfathered where 150/10 is available. But signing up for 75/2 where 150/10 is available would be tough, you'd have to find a CSR willing to jump through a few hoops to do it. |

If there are grandfathered customers it means that there will be a tariff available for Start to use, even if Rogers isn't actively signing up customers.
It only becomes an issue if they replace the previous tier with a higher speed and upgrade all of the customers. Cogeco has a way of doing this, and are probably doing it again when 55 gets bumped up. |

Rocca,
I just tried to sign up for the 30 Mb tier, but the CSR indicated it wasn't available in my area (Cogeco in Kingston). I've been getting the "preview" of these speeds for some time now. Is there a delayed rollout of this tier in some areas? If so, can you let us know the process / timelines? |

Sent an email and was assigned to new tier in minutes. Good call upgrading us during testing, hard to give up the new speed once you've tried it. Keep the new tiers coming! |

Not necessarily. 10/1 wasn't available anymore when it went to 15/1, but it was grandfathered due to the cap difference on the Rogers side and all of the 10/1 TPIA became 15/1. 10/1 ceased to exist on TPIA. Same with 18/512, 12/512 and even 10/512. But then 15/1 was around for awhile for TPIA when it went to 24/1, so it does happen. I suspect 75/2 will be available for awhile yet, at least until the entire Rogers territory is 150/10 capable and they completely stop offering 75/2. |

ya, i was kinda hoping that they'd level the playing field with rogers area customers and let us keep the 30mbit for $50... oh well maybe some day. |

Hi Rocca...
I am using two Cogeco postal codes, one you gave me and one DNH gave me. I see Cogeco plans, but not the new 30/2.
OR, is that plan in limited areas only, based upon D3 capability, just like the 20/1.5 plan? I guess that would make sense, but I didn't read your annoucement that way.
... 8 to 2 for the Knights in the 3rdP, at the "Dubweiser Gardens"... |

Correct, the 20 and 30Mbps plans are not available in D2 only areas. said by jasmo34:... 8 to 2 for the Knights in the 3rdP, at the "Dubweiser Gardens"... :) |
