How do you know if you're addicted to gaming?

I have over 199 Steam Games and 75 hard copy games. How would I know if I am addicted to game? Everyday when I get home I play computer games and of course make meals. Then sleep and go to bed. This is basically do on a daily basis.

I say when you actually start calling in sick to stay home and play games, you might have a problem.

01. Do you sleep and dream of the games you've played that day..
02. Do you think about the games when @ work (school).
03. Do you have a problem hitting *Pause* on any game to spend time with Real people?
04. Have you missed 3 or more important 'get-togethers' this past year due to not being able to tear yourself away from games..
05. Have you lost your real life friends because you are busy w/ games?
06. Does your family members tell you to get out of your room because a 'odd' smell... one which you cannot notice.
07. Do you look like the guy from South Park's WoW episode?
08. Are the W,A,S,D, Ctrl, L-Shift, keys worn down, but the rest are "new". / When you put your hand on the keyboard, is it Home Row or Game Row?
09. Do you have callouses on your thumbs..
10. Can you pick out over 75% of your games and GIVE them away?

... i'd say over 70% you may have issues...

However, looking at this.. i am close to being addicted myself...

Anything that is on your mind enough to distract you from other interactions would be considered an addiction. I am addicted. I don't see any clinics for it so I am cool with it. I'd much rather be gaming than spending time with my wife, although she likes to watch television which I find too boring for my taste. If we go out and do stuff I don't mind as much, but I still think about gaming at times.

You know if you're addicted GW2 when:

Walking along a path with the spouse you come upon newly planted trees and can't help but think "Resources gathering"

I have used Paid Vacation time for MMO expansion releases. But I guess that is technically different because those are officially approved days off.

It's cool, let's define all hobbies as addictions--this is the internet, and we can play fast and free with pesky things like definitions and specificity!

I'm not sure I'd call it an addiction... maybe a hobby?

I have been collecting games since I was young. I still own all the old school video game systems... Atari, Intellivision, NES, Sega Master System, Genesis, Super Nintendo, etc. I have over 500 games total and have my entire collection on display in my basement. Whenever I have parties it brings up a ton of great video game conversations.

When I discovered emulators several years back my quest to own more games than anyone kind of dissolved. All my hard work and money could be gathered into a USB flash stick.

I think if that's all you do (and you think about the games you will play while you are at work), then you are addicted...

I don't have a problem with that usually. Those are some of the best vacations sometimes. Taking a few days off just to relax, play videos games, and just hang out.

So do you have a problem? I see the point behind the thread now...
