Subaru1-3-2-4Premium join:2001-05-31 Greenwich, CT | reply to Subaru Well I had no problems doing patches on my jeans last night the control is still a little crazy because it's a tiny switch vs the larger pads I'm used to. |

AndrewG2 join:2006-01-20 Niagara Falls, ON | reply to Subaru I've seen a few types, foot and knee switches (those have a bar coming down from the machine itself or fix to the table) There's just switches, there's 3 speed switches which are wiped contacts with 3 big wirewound resistors, and the fully variable, was a huge rheostat, which probably worked out about "15 speed" practically.
I have one somewhere, I picked up for running a drill through. |

Subaru1-3-2-4Premium join:2001-05-31 Greenwich, CT | I'm not too sure, one guy got his at goodwill for $7 and this model at the time with Singer's most basic model. |

Gavin join:2012-10-03 canada | reply to Subaru I think old is gold. So, you are very lucky that you have an old singer sewing machine. |

Subaru1-3-2-4Premium join:2001-05-31 Greenwich, CT | Yeah it's not bad pretty basic but I'm going to give my mom a new machine for her birthday, she got spoiled with the new machines.
Speaking of that the belt snapped on me 2 days ago (original belt) but I want to replace the foot controller pedal with something newer, I'm not sure what you call those wire clamps? Are they wire compressors? They are white with a little metal band inside that you crimp. -- It's NOT Ni-kon It's NE-KON!

Go to the bottom right of this page and you can get a nice printable certificate showing date of manufacture. Not sure how long they will do it as it was to celebrate their 160 anniversary. (Family has a number of old Singers including quite a collection of featherlights. Mom love to quilt on one of hers which was made the same year she was born -- 1932).

should be the last of it, I already hinted I was going to buy her a new sewing machine for Christmas/birthday since her birthday is so close to Christmas hah.
Only thing I haven't done yet is change the foot controller.. I mean it's not a big deal how it is not but the switch is so stupid small vs the switches that are a whole medal plate vs a tiny 2x2" square. -- It's NOT Ni-kon It's NE-KON!
