| [MO] HTTP Protocol Messing up? Ive been having speed issues with all kinds of services, but possibly just the http interface part of it. Once I connect to say netflix stream it streams fine. but getting it to connect keeps timing out. I tried other webpages and all seem to load extremely slow. I have tried a few other file transfer protocols though, and everything seems to cap my speed just fine. Only webpages seem to be draggin ass. Also file downloads from websites.
edit: this is on ultra50 in columbia |

 | I'm not sure what the hell is going on in Columbia...thought it looked like a DNS issue. Websites timing out repeatedly, refresh 3-4 times eventually they load fine. Huge pain in the arse. |

Their server info can be found here: »developers.google.com/speed/public-dns/
If not, please message me with your phone number or account number and I will check your connection closer.

 | Experiencing the same thing in AZ and changing my router's DNS address to use Google's DNS servers fixed the problem. |
|
 | reply to MediacomChad I wanted to ask, will switching from mediacom DNS servers adversely affect me on sites that try to auto detect mediacom? For example ESPN3 website I use frequently for sporting events? |
|
 | reply to Dmnchild It probably does a reverse lookup on your IP so changing your DNS server IP shouldn't have any effect on it., plus it's not that hard to reverse if it messes up your access. |

| reply to MediacomChad Sorry I had left to run so didn't mess with it. Since I have been home for the past hour or two I have not noticed it now. I am not sure if something has changed or perhaps because were off peak hours or what. I will try if the issue comes back up tomorrow though! (Hoping it doesn't :P) |

 | reply to Dmnchild So today switched to Google DNS servers, sometimes a psych myself out about complex problems and have less faith in my ability then I should. Well hour following my fix, DNS issues completely cleared up. Shall see if that remains the case. Now asking myself why I waited so long to fix the problem.
I guess my next question is, in case I need to revert back--what are mediacom DNS servers for my records.... in looking where google told me to look, the DNS server area was entirely blank. so I probably couldn't switch back if I wanted to. Or perhaps the problem was lack of a server in that area to begin with?! No clue. |

 | You just switch back to the auto option to go back to Mediacom servers. |
