I too am in the Cross lanes area.

I have been working with Suddenlink for several months to try to get a connection to my house that does not disconnect, tile images on the Television, etc.

They replaced the modem, had techs check the cable and signal levels, and checked the point of service to my house twice.

I have been working with a supervisor since 8/4/12 to get my issues resolved.

I just got an email that says they had several issues in my area and think they have it fixed...I hope so.

Maybe what they found wrong will help your connection too.

Care to provide the pricing on the new speeds of 50 and 107?

I now have the 107/5, but unfortunately have experienced most of the things same as with this OP, also after attempting nearly most the same kinds of ways in hope of arriving to be just within any provider's acceptable 10% range of the downstream speed...but to no avail.And it is only early evening.

Best...but worse answer is....just not ready for Prime Time.
But Suddenlink is trying....

Hey, Moldy, he's in the same area as me, probably within a few miles (or less), quite possibly on the same headend.

I had trouble getting 10mbps, and DOCSIS 3.0 has some trouble providing 20 here. With this in mind forget 100mbps, it's a pipe dream.

Would say just downgrade untill they can bring the plant up to par. Then again you would halve your upload too.

Yea.... jddm72 & moldypickle you both seem to know the game, as I've had the 107 10 days, and actually it has only been there between about 5am to 7am, and all other times of a 24 hour day, and depending on their now regular automated messages about technical issues, it has been from 1 to 45 megs, even the tech that came out early last week declared his 30 meg was only pulling 18 meg, and mentioned that there was not anything personally technically he really could do, but he indicated he'd get it pushed up the ladder to a higher tech authority, and since that time things have gone further downhill , so no joy there either.
So far, it has been just a waste of money and the thrill is nearly gone, so falling back to the 50 is the way to go, but if part of the problem is actually an overloaded node like the tech had indicated, then I'll definitely just experience the same repeated slow downs.

I had better test results with the 20 Meg.







Hope some other national 107 users might chime in on their recent performance experiences.

The 107 is there, but unfortunately in a very small window that I'd mentioned is around 5am, but it would sort of be decent if half the speed was there half the time of a 24 hour day, instead of erratically up and down the scale and well below 50 meg.

Speedtest Graph Results over previous recent 70 hour period and is very consistent with many other different test procedures and systems.

Today Upload is taking very long time to reach destination and had not seen this issue with 107.

Like I've mentioned, that the only times 107 shows is in early morning just around dawn, but the Graph shows how it all goes from that time better than I could even explain.

The 107 is usually there at sometime well after midnight and arrives by 6 in the morning.

Sorry for the late reply, but what you all need to do, is to have the call center send it to the local plant and have them contact you directly. You want to ask to have your bill prorated down to the level you are receiving until you get the speed you are paying for. The call center won't do it, but the local plant can and will adjust your bill on a monthly basis until it's fixed (which may be months/years/decades).

I just downgraded to 50mbit since that's about what I get during normal hours.

They screwed me big time on my bill. My first month of "107mbit" was 190$. I tried and tried and tried to get them to make things right but they wouldn't. They know they have a monopoly on broadband that's for sure.

Almost 2am on the dot I get 100+. Seems like they "uncap" things around then.

So in short 50mbit is the same as 100mbit for less $$$. It's probably going to be a while before you see 100mbit on a Friday evening or anytime other than 2-6am.

And that is exactly the reason they sell you a speed tier UP TO 107mb at best effort.

I'm on a 30Mbps plan, pay for a 15Mbps plan and average about 20Mbps, but during peak, it drops to about 10Mbps. Much better than before though, as it was dropping to .15Mbps and lower, and the telephone MTA was failing to connect also, meaning no telephone. If you are getting 50Mbps, I believe you are lucky, because I just live one hill over in Nitro proper from Cross Lanes.

I've had 107 meg for close to 3 years now, for the first 2 and a half years or so, I could max the speed out at will (13.75 Megabytes/s on downloads), but since around the time that they upgraded all of their other tiers, I'm lucky to get half of that unless its like 4 am.

So basically, SL upgraded everyone elses connection at the expense of the 107 meg owners, and didn't lower our bill or anything.

I can't wait for the day that Suddenlink has to deal with real competition.

I think it's closer to 2 and a half actually. I know that I was one of the very first customers, tech told me that 11 other people had it. We were also talking about Cliff Lee pitching an awesome game for the Rangers in the 2010 playoffs, so it was somewhere around Oct of 2010.

Completely beside the point though. Was always able to push it above 12 MB/s anytime of day, up until fall of last year, now I typically get 4-5 MB/s unless it's 3 in the morning. Very frustrating.

Another Saturday Night. Arris 760 looks good, maybe except the Up Power is down to 30.75 dBmV, though is down from the usual low 32.50. Months ago the Up Power was steady 39. Anybody know if the low Up Power could be any effect for these extreme slow downs during the evening and night for all these many months??

change your speed or try to see if their are other options like frontier available and play that card.

If the upstream power gets too low it certainly can cause speed issue, and then connection issue when i gets bad enough
