Just have the teams draw staws to see who will win the SB. I might be less painful that way. |

I love the Replacements. They won me money last night. The Regulars might have cost me a bundle. Go Replacements, Go Roger. |

I know I've bitched about the new refs and I know they aren't as good as the guys they replaced, but come on with this one play over and over and over. Even if it was the original refs making the call, I think it would have come out the same way. Every announcer who called the game live seemed to think it was a simultaneous catch when it happened, but after watching the replay, all of a sudden it's an interception and the game is ruined by the refs and everyone is all sad about the death of the game. Give me a break. I mean, the ref closest to the play made a judgement call based on a real time evaluation of what he saw. Maybe he made a mistake, but come on man, give it a rest already. Every sports show is running this play over and over, reading the rule book, reading fucking tweets by anybody who has an opinion, getting everybody but my mom to comment, and just going wonky about the play.
Plus, screw the Packers. |

Let us not forget that the tuck rule was called by the normal refs. |

But that was because he kept trying to take the QB's place under center, and was repeatedly being flagged for clutching and grabbing at the players! |

I'm not liking the 49ers at Jets game at all. Especially with SF coming off a loss. The Jets haven't been showing me much to give me a lot of hope in this one. (But hey, on any given Sunday). Oh, by the way Rook. Did you hear about the horrendous call at the end of the Packers-Seahawks game? Maybe the Refs will help us out a little in this game. |

The 49ers looked anything, but invincible, last Sunday at Minnesota. Say anything you want about traveling to the West Coast and early start times they were thrashed soundly by a team that lost a week ago to bottom feeding Indy.
A great match up would be Seattle vs the 49ers. Seattle looked awesome against the Packers. Never mind the end controversy the Packers deserved to lose.
I'll take the Packers over the Saints. Two teams with suspect defenses. |

I sure hope you're right when it comes to flying to the East Coast and playing the Jets in NY...but I still don't have a warm fuzzy feeling about this one. |

Heard a rumour that some of the refs had been fired by the Lingerie Football league.
Although I can understand why they would be distracted. lol |

I don't think the Niners at Jets is going to be a very good game for Jets fans. We're going to need a lot of ref help in that one. Maybe Holmes can continue to draw PI calls? Giants at Eagles on Sunday night should be pretty entertaining though. |

With all due respect (?) to Eagles LoveR...I hate the Eagles! (Well, believe it or not, I kind of liked them once in a while, way back when Jaworski played for them. (Showing my age again). But yeah, it should be a pretty good game, considering they're playing in Philly. (The Eagles need all the help they can get, even if it's only home field advantage). (Edit) However...I'll never foreget the game where the Giants had the win in the bag, ran a running play to end the game, and the Eagles scooped it up for a winning TD. (Showing my age again). Come to think of it, that's probably why I hate the Eagles. |

That was a huge give-away (I think it was Herm Edwards who scored), but the more recent one was even bigger. And uglier. It wasn't one botched play but a whole bunch of botched plays. But anyway, doesn't everybody hate the Eagles? |

Wow...I sure hope it happens. I'm not surprised they've settled back at the table and are trying to come to some sort of agreement in light of this unreal fiasco going on right now. It doesn't take a brain surgeon to realize this is hurting the league big time. It's amazing they still handed out some pretty hefty fines. Belichick fined 50K..wow. (I suppose they have no choice). Hey, he can afford it. But If I were one of the coaches effected, they'd be handing out more than fines...I'd probably be serving jail time. |

Every announcer who called the game live seemed to think it was a simultaneous catch when it happened, but after watching the replay, all of a sudden it's an interception and the game is ruined by the refs and everyone is all sad about the death of the game. Give me a break. I tend to agree. I've seen similar instances called 'simultaneous catch' before-- nevermind that the DB had about 98% of the simultanousness in his possession. What's worse is all the other stuff surrounding that play-- that obvious offensive pass interference goes uncalled, that it takes forever to review the play, that officials have to go into locker rooms to get players back on the field for the meaningless extra-point. (Meaningless this time, anyway. Next time, maybe covering/not covering the point-spread is at stake.) What's also worse is the way games are being officiated in general terms-- no consistency in the way penalties are called, and a whole lot of dirty, or at least improper, play being allowed. Something that's a penalty one minute is perfectly fine 10 minutes later, and vice-versa. Mass confusion seems to reign after almost every flag, and these officials are obviously not well familiar with many of the NFL rules. There was also apparently not much of a 'vetting' process during hiring. The female ref, it has come to light, for example, likes to hang around casinos and play in the World Series Of Poker. I think we all know how the league feels about players and officials who enjoy gambling, eh? And the way that might affect a flag being dropped or not on occasion here and there. Bottom line is the regular refs are far from perfect, but they are men among boys when it comes to comparison with the people who are currently officiating the games. One of the fellows who made the game-ending Seattle/Green Bay call was deemed not qualified enough for Division 1 college football a couple of years ago. But bitch & moan, and regardless of who's playing, who's owning, who's commissionering, or who's refereeing, seats will be filled and TVs turned on-- because we loves our football, yes we do, and nobody's going to stop watching, stop rooting, walk out of any game, or watch 'Heidi' instead on a Sunday afternoon. We're hooked, and the NFL knows it. Bitching & moaning about calls every game is the norm anyway. Go ahead, stop watching. The NFL dares us. Meanwhile, enjoy the bitching & moaning. As they say, no such thing as bad publicity. |

Lol. So true, AB. With all of my bitching and complaining, it sure as hell isn't going to stop me from watching NFL games. It's one of the few reasons I even bother to live. But I really hope they get the pro Refs back soon. I'd even settle for a women. (Well, if she's good looking). |

I don't see berating officials (on the field, in person, as the bad calls fly) as that big of a deal, really, but doing so in the media should be fined. Touching one should be fined substantially.
Get the real refs back so there are less bad calls. |

50k is nothing to Belicheat. He paid half a million a few years ago. Granted he won some Superbowls for that half-million, and here he only got to inappropriately touch a ref. |

For me the inconsistency is the bad part about having replacement refs, especially concerning play between receivers and defenses, holding calls on linemen, and some issues on where the ball is spotted after a play. I don't much care if the game takes a bit longer to play out because of the constant conferences by the officials.
I'll still watch. |

Oh, I agree that's just a minor drop in the bucket for him. I mean, after all, the fines are a joke to begin with. Just a way for the league to say they were 'bad boys'. Whatever, I just want some Refs back that know what the hell they're doing. (Well, as much as Refs are capable of knowing what the hell they're doing). |

Speaking of fines, Mundy was fined $21,000 for the hit on Heyward-Bey that knocked him unconscious. » espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/ ··· -bey-hitI really don't get why, with the NFL's safety first policies, they don't drop some bigger fines and/or suspensions for hits that are clearly illegal. |
