Unix and Linux → Non-java office suite

So is there such a thing in 'nix world?
Currently using Libre Office.

I thought most of Libre Office doesn't use Java. I think there's something in the options that turns off Java so that it loads faster. With that being said, I think Base and the equation editor require Java, so you'll need to turn it back on for that.
