soldering to gold plated vs. tin plated

I'll be ordering some headers, and I wonder how much difference is between the two w.r.t. soldering? (didn't solder gold lately)

For example:
»www.digikey.com/product-detail/e···D/810145 - 6 pin tin
»www.digikey.com/product-detail/e···D/810178 - 6 pin gold

Sometimes we'll just hook up probes and jumper wires -- gold is clearly better there, but sometimes we'll end soldering wires to them.

TIA

I've found gold seems to solder better actually, for one thing, it stays cleaner.

If there is a difference then gold gets soldered a bit easier imho.

Gold soldiers very easily and very well. You shouldn't have any trouble at all. It seems to flow better than tin.

Thanks for all -- everything will be gold plated.

Although gold solders well, soldering to thick gold will result in intermetallic voids and joint failure over time.
