I debated the same thing in my mind a while back. I figured it would take about 3.5 years at $2.50/month to pay back the price of a new SB6141, and they may be cheaper at that time or newer technology come along. Plus I wasn't sure if I would even stay with TWC for 3.5 years. The D2 modem I'm using with my own router is working OK.
