I'm having the same problem (Ottawa West). Internet's pretty freaking slow right now. Very unusual. Went to the forum to see that I wasn't alone.

Hi,

Would you be able to provide a Trace & ping as rondomguy has performed.

Thanks,

It's been crap here all month Martin. Just admit you are having serious network issues. My brother is having exactly the same issues 3Km from here. Dropping connections, terrible speeds and intermittent total failures. One day is fine, next is horrible.

Having a tech tell me to unplug my router and blow smoke up my ass like a creepy used car salesman is so beneath what Tek was when I first signed up.

My cable has been REALLY slow out in Stittsville.

No issues pinging 24.246.55.22. I get very low ping times. But pinging other sites or a neighbor is just crazy.

We have no problem admitting to an issue, but nothing in Ottawa West POI's are reaching above 75% capacity. If I'd be seeing something I'd be letting you know.

Please post in the »/forum ··· avdirect forum & we'll look at the service with you. You can even get your brother to do the same.

I did try that and got told to unplug my router and waste time with basic troubleshooting that has nothing to do with the issue. Basically a slack jawed junior tech with no network testing resources whatsoever at their disposal wasting my time until I gave up and went away.

This problem has been intermittent for months for many Ottawa users. Random drop outs, no internet connection at all, cable modem rebooting, wrong speed profiles and crazy ass routing. All intermittent and annoying with no changes down here at our end and mysteriously all better a few hours or at most a day later.

I would like to troubleshoot it here in public where you can't blow us all off one at a time with lame ass excuses.

There is personal IP information requested in the template we provide, but if you still want to do this publicly we can.

That 3rd hop is not TekSavvy. We have no control on that one. But because you are having an issue there, we can contact Rogers to advise them something is happening there.

Please post in the »/forum ··· avdirect forum & I'll ask a few additional things so I can get Rogers on it for you.

And here I thought it was just me having the problem. I've been experiencing terrible connectivity every night so far this week. It seems to start almost at 5PM on the nose, and continues until sometime past 11PM (the latest I'm up). What appears to be packet loss is so bad that websites time out, iTunes can't download stuff, Windows Update fails to connect, etc. Basically, my connection is utterly useless for most of the time that I'm home and expecting to use it.

I guess I'll go start my own thread in the Direct forum, to see if anything useful comes of it.

Kanata user here, and not a single issue in months, including the past week....In fact, in the past, I did used to get similar issues...Namely, dropped packets and high pings during peak hours (weekday afternoons) but this stop happening winter 2011.
