[CA] SB6180 has only 3 Bonded Channels down and 1 up

Is this normal in my area of Aliso Viejo?...I just did a self-activation for this modem. Does OC support more than this? I expected 8 down and 4 up with this modem.

Could it be that the firmware needs to be updated on it? Currently it is running the following:

Software Version: SB6180-3.2.1.0-GA-00-252-NOSH
Hardware Version: 1
MIB Version: II
GUI Version: 1.0

Thank you

In most cases I wouldn't expect 8 down 4 up maybe 8 down 3 up in most cases.

I Have with Time Warner Cable:

The modem connects to what's available. If only 3 is available then 3 is all it will connect to. The reason to get 8x4 modems is so when they jump to more channels, you can connect to all of them which could also solve speed issues during primetime.

Also...I noticed my correctables keep incrementing on channel 1:

This is not normal, is it?

Expected also, 4 uncorrectables are what matters. If that number was sky high then you have a bigger issue.

On my 6180 (different ISP) i have a few thousand uncorrectables, this is after 1 week however.

Yes it is normal on downstream channel one, as there is a bug in the gui of the 6180, and when you leave the modem page open. It will continue to add up codewords, until you close the modem page. It's a known bug, and there just hasn't been an updated firmware yet to fix this small bug.

You guys are great....thanks for explaining this GUI bug. I got confimation from CoxTech1 that everything is honkey-dory with the modem and firmware. Plus I learned from CoxTech1 that my area only supports this bonding now (3/1). I hope Cox can bond some uplinks soon for us..... as I think this will be more reliable/stable for my uplink experience and performance.

Thanks again. I will now use it for a while...and hope to notice some improvement (downloads are definitely faster now going from Docsys 2)

Doubtfully. another user thats OC no strings also gets something like that. the modem doesn't determine what you get. any D3 modem in a 3/1 area is only going to get 3 down / 1 up.
