Toronto school board website links to veggie sex site

An astounding link on the Toronto District School Board website which entices children to experiment sexually with vegetables has a Christian group calling for a criminal investigation....

....on the TDSB site, you will find — under the heading Coalition for Positive Sexuality — a link called “Just Say Yes, pro sex” which champions encounters with vegetables and other experimental options....

....“Play with your own or someone else’s a-- or vagina, put your fingers, dildoes, vegetables, or butt plugs into them,” is what it states....

»cnews.canoe.ca/CNEWS/Can ··· 301.html

The school board's website seems overloaded this morning, but THIS is the veggie sex site that they reportedly link to:
»www.positive.org/JustSay ··· sex.html

---------------------------------------------

COMMENTS: As we are supposed to post comment or opinion, my opinion is that this is an outrageous link to post on a school board website. The school board should get kids to eat bananas or carrots, NOT insert them into rectum or vagina....

Typical hardliner religious zealots making a pointless complaint.

1) It's educational.
2) It's not pornographic or inappropriate in any way. Also, the site is very plain and boring with no graphic images (that I could see)
3) Sex is healthy, and having resources to learn is nothing but benificial to kids/adults who wish to read the information on this site.

Just to show you how stupid and uneducated the people complaining are:

Sex is everywhere -- on beer commercials, billboards, and in music lyrics. But most messages we get tell us that sex is something dirty that we shouldn't talk about or an act of violence. Most of us learn that our bodies, and our sex, are things to be ashamed of. Most of us learn that sex means a man on top of a woman, and that the only other choice is abstinence. But sex can be lots of things ...
Women have sex with women, men have sex with men, women have sex with men -- and sometimes the best sex is with yourself!

I'm not religious at all, but I can't agree that the complaints are pointless....

You did [not] include in your quotes:

...get into role play (for instance, tie someone up and pleasure them)...

...use cock rings, nipple clamps (or clothespins), or vibrators on your own or someone else's body...

...cum on someone's belly, back, feet, chest -- instead of in them ...

...play with your own or someone else's ass or vagina, put your fingers, dildoes, vegetables, or buttplugs into them...

...If you're putting something into a butthole, make sure it has a flared base and looks something like the picture. That way it can't go all the way in and get stuck...

You [really] think that a school board's website should be linking to that?!

Yes, what's wrong with teaching teens (they're going to do it anyway) about masturbation, sex toys etc?

Look it's out there, those that are interested are going to find the information anyway, those that aren't it's simply MEH, by linking to a site you are providing those that are interested, a good reference to work with.

Schools teach sex-ed don't they? What's the difference? You also took the link from the SUN, they're looking or the sensationalism of it all. Google news shows only Canoe (Sun) and the Star, with the Star about an hour behind Canoe in writing the story. (coincidence? not likely).

Frankly I'm more offended that a London Catholic School is building a prayer room for the Muslims that attend the school. Why are Muslims attending a Catholic school in the first place, and why are my tax dollars being spent to accommodate them?

Kids will be curious either way, and they will find it either way. The difference is, would you rather they learn it from someone who teaches a safe and proper thing, or that they learn it from some cheap hardcore porn videos and think that it's the way it's supposed to be?

If anything, I wish that schools had a much better sex ed class, and earlier. Better they learn the proper thing early on, then find out the wrong way by themselves or through Internet and start spreading STDs and get pregnant at 15-16.

Sex ed does [not] offend [me] at all.

AFAIK however, carrots, cucumbers, clamps, and ropes, have not heretofore been part of the curriculum.

Furthermore, the site does not really discuss the various infections and injuries that can occur with some of the suggested activities.

That's you, but the school board is simply providing a link to another site, while it might be an implied endorsement, I feel it's just a way of providing information to teens.

Heheheheheh ok this entire topic has made my day a bit brighter.

Heck we all know a large swath of society is devoted to the notion sex is original sin, bad, and any mention of it is regarded as undesirable.

Almost makes you wonder how we end up with some many uptight religious people though. Hard to have uptight religious people if they have trouble having anything to do with sex.

Then again, if they know nothing about sex, I suppose they just end up with a lot of unexpected pregnancies.

If that's really the information that was linked to on the TDSB site, I'm in agreement that it presents way too much information.

My idea of sex ed in lower school (or even in high school) is that it is supposed to teach the basics of male/female anatomy, safe sex procedures and the other risks associated with sexual intercourse. It should be conducted in a manner that encourages the children (yes, they're still children) to be comfortable with the subject and give them the opportunity to ask questions.

If they ask questions about that kinkier stuff, the teacher should be comfortable and able to provide answers, but I don't think that information should be provided unprompted to the entire class.

How are they going to have time for their other classes when they've got so much to study in sex ed?

Complainant is Charles McVety.
quote:
In December 2010, Crossroads Television System (CTS) pulled Word TV off the air, following a decision by the Canadian Broadcast Standards Council (CBSC) for statements made by McVety which were deemed to be in violation of the Council's standards and due to a lack of compliance with CTS's own code of ethics.[15] The first violation pertained to the relationship between opinion and fact with the Council finding against Word TV "because of the false and misleading underpinnings" of a "barrage of seemingly trustworthy information" that was determined by the CBSC to be "neither full, fair nor proper." Word TV was found in violation of the Council's broadcast codes for two errors of fact expressed by McVety in his discussion of gay people, one pertaining to erroneous statements that the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario and the Alberta Human Rights Commission [16] had a 100% "conviction rate" and the other pertaining to the criminalization of commentary by Bill C-250, an act to amend the Criminal Code with reference to hate propaganda, after the acceptance of which McVety stated erroneously that “it is now a crime to speak against homosexuality.” As pertains to the Ontario Government's proposed revision of the Ontario school curriculum, the CBSC found McVety's "twisting of the purpose of the revisions is wrong-headed, unfair and improper." McVety had stated that the curriculum intended to "teach homosexuality". In his statements regarding the Gay Pride Parade, the panel found McVety's implications that homosexuals prey on children " mis-characterizations" which were "excessive, inappropriate, disparaging, and abusive" and in breach of the Human Rights Clauses of its Code of Ethics and its Equitable Portrayal Code as well as other sections of the Equitable Portrayal Code.[17] The offending episodes aired on CTS between July 19, 2009 and February 21, 2010, and was given a rating of "G" in the English Canadian ratings system.[17] The CBSC ordered CTS to announce the ruling at least twice on the air, and to take steps to ensure further breaches of the CBSC's codes do not occur.[18][19]

CTS's banishment of Word TV was originally a temporary move, but in January 2011, it was made permanent when CTS cancelled the program, leading McVety to sue the broadcaster, claiming political persecution.[20] However, CTS has said in a press release that McVety was asked many times to cease his distorting and polarizing behavior, and comply with broadcasting guidelines, yet he refused to do so.[21]

The Miracle Channel was not named in the complaint, and is not subject to the CBSC ruling; as of April 2011, The Miracle Channel still airs Word TV.[22]

I agree, that guy is a bastard.

But IMHO it does not make his complaint any less valid.

Even if the complaint had been filed by an atheist, the merits would be the same.

There's nothing wrong with a school board using a cucumber to demonstrate how to put on a condom....

....but a school board need not link to a website that promotes pushing cucumbers into anuses and/or vaginas.

As some assign a state of consciousness to vegetables there is the question of consent as well.

This site is just getting kinkier every day as we just heard a member has been molesting the electronics in his home.

Ha, vegetable consent, Love It!

and

PX Eliezer, as long as you washed your vegetables prior to use, there should be no issues. Last time I checked cannot get herpes etc from a cucumber. Do recommend you have at least two at your disposal for sanitary reasons.

While I cannot speak for anyone else here, I always wash MY food items prior to use (no matter WHAT the use).

Which brings to mind that while at the supermarket, it is sometimes fascinating to observe the behaviour of some of the clientelle as they select a cuke to put in....

Maybe rather then taking time to teach kids advanced kinky sex 709, perhaps we should stick to the basics given they are just kids and they can have the rest of their lives to decide if they want to explore further. If we want to teach advanced subjects to kids perhaps advanced math, science, arts, whatever would be a far better place to use that time and resources.

I'm not sure I understand the some people's need to force intro level student to learn advanced topics (ie how to run before they can walk) in any subject, really sounds like they are trying to sell the life style.

I subscribe to the Rick Mercer school of sexuality, what goes on in the snow suit stays in the snow suit, but perhaps we should start by learning how to put the snow suit on first, before we dump the garden in them.

Blake
If I said we should force kids to learn highly advanced mathematics, I bet all the lefties would be screaming Nazi education, but signed them up for advanced kinky sex, their on board with it. Interesting double standard.

Your red, and paranoid knickers are showing (ooops Calgary, how could I forget ;-P. The education system needs an overhaul and kids need to be far more challenged in both academics and fitness. Todays morass is a joke.
