Anyone that sexually abuses a child or kidnaps a child with the intent to sexually abuse a child, yes, they need to be locked up and the key needs to be thrown away. I fully endorse "rot in prison".
Creating pornography, falls under the first one.
Viewing it without the intent to engage in the acts... I'm on the fence here as the private in-home viewing of the content may prevent a person from acting out their desires. A man beats off to regular porn, he's good for a while... can the same be said for potential exploiters of children? I don't know.
Maybe it's like video games, where I can play a game like Grand Theft Auto and mow down a pile of people and shoot them to death, but I'd never do that in 'real life'. |

Halifax, NS | The boy who was held captive has told police he was literally snatched off of the streets of Halifax by these punks...
He woke up in a van and was taken to a house where he was sexually abused. The teenager told police his abductors had plans of "selling him"....

| I heard it discussed on CBC Radio, it's pretty crazy that this one guy has a court case tied up right now that involves a 2 year old and a 5 year old boy... meanwhile he can victimize a 16 year old.
According to the news, the 16 year old was too scared to talk to people or escape because they threatened to hurt his family. |

On the flip side; in theory we're getting to the point where such material will not require real actors at all. In theory the actors could be simulations. Which then changes the entire concept - since you've eliminated victims in the creation - should it be legal.

kudos:3 | I think A lurker you hit the nail on Urbans head with your comment. Its the same with exploitation of women. Although there may be no result of you watching it in your home, the fact is many women are abused to feed the porn industry. Its a sick cycle. In the case of children they are exploited but not being adults puts them into a different category such that society is willing to go to greater lengths in their defence.......... such that even possessing the material is illegal.
