CP24 changed it's on-air graphics

I've tuned into CP24 earlier today and I found out that - they recently changed their on-air graphics. I really like the new look of CP24 - even the music stings have changed. Instead of we listen to the guy doing the voice over saying "CP24 yaddy yaddy yadda".......we hear some music play leading up to the next segment (or whatever that is).

I heard somewhere that the reason that CP24 launched it's new look - is to coincide with the launch of the new HD feed. So far, it's only available to Bell Fibe customers.

My question to you folks is, do you prefer this new look or do you want to go back to the old look?

Yep. Noticed that too. Its OK.
And Yes I hated that "You are watching CP24 and Toronto's Breaking news yaddy yaddy yadda. I think it was modeled after CNN Situation room repeated twice every time. It was worse that CNN Wolf B repeating the question two times at least and welcome to SR.

The station is still a pale imitation of what it was before Bell bought it.

It looks cleaner than it used to, but you can really tell how small of a budget the station is running on now.

It is because it is not available to Bell satellite yet.

Pffft. Not even worth discussing.

I'm so sick of the Portuguese Princess and the Washed Up Has Been it's not even funny anymore.

I'm just waiting for the first NHL game to be cancelled so I can pull the plug on hockey and my Shaw Direct subscription.

You mean of course Jackass & Jackass, though that name applies to any morning show host.

Its called CP24 but the inane chitchat and torrent of pointless verbal diarrhea makes me change the channel to something less stupid and slightly more informative. Unfortunately that usually is CBC, and their morning news program has the most auditory jarring intersegement sound effects. Much of their news consists of "in the next hour we will tell you about.." or "coming up later.." followed by pointless chitchat between the host and other co-hosts. In short the actually information is so diluted there is only a fact every five minutes or so.

My point is they can sex up the graphics as much as they want, it is not going to compensate for the lack of information and monotonous drone from the hosts.

Wait, how is CP24 not available to the other BDU's, it's a Cat 1 speciality channel (must carry).

That perfectly describes the morning show on CHRO / newRO / A-Channel / CTV2 here in Ottawa. I think their target audience is ex-Oprah watchers what with all the segments on makeovers, fashion (oooh fabulous), breast feeding tutorials, cooking tips, updates on Justin Beiber, etc.

Is there a morning show that just has national and international news, financial news, sports summaries, and technology stories, you know, for the rest of us?

Personally I switch back and forth between BNN and CBC Newsnet in the AM. I have absolutely no tolerance for yappy mongrel morning shows like Canada AM or the American equivalents.

I guess surveys and focus groups must have told the network execs that people don't want to be depressed first thing in the morning by "real" news but as Thane_Bitter pointed out, they fill the void with inane chit chat and guest chefs and lame Canadian folk musicians.

Main thing I need first thing in the AM though is a good indicator of how the markets are going to open. BNN used to carry Bloomberg TV overnight but they've long since dropped it and now run stupid infomercials between 3 AM and 7 AM. Bloomberg used to provide excellent coverage of Asian and European markets before the North American opening.

For real news junkies, the options keep dumbing down year after year.

I'm pretty sure Bloomberg TV is available in Canada now, which would explain that...

I don't see it as an available option on my ExpressVu and I'm subscribed up the wazoo for news channels.

Bell probably doesn't carry it... after all, it competes with their own BNN...

I know Shaw Direct has it. I think Rogers does too.

Bloomberg is with News channel theme pack on Rogers. I have MSNBC/Fox News and one more German news channel in that package.
But CNN International is available and BBC in regular channel pack..
