The letter my uncle received mentioned "one year" of free cable box rental. But as I read this thread, I see some subscribers in the same situation were provided two years. That appears to me to be a discrepancy. I do not object to anyone getting two or even more years free, in fact I think it is the right thing to do. However, if that is available to some, I don't understand why others are limited to one year...

You can call and ask, but chances are the person you talk to is not empowered to satisfy customers and all you'll be accomplishing will be to increase your blood pressure.
