Re: CIRA Election Open How so? A quick check at GoDaddy shows .CA is cheaper per year than .COM for multiple years, and the same price for one year.
1 year:
.CA: $12.99
.COM: $12.99
5 year:
.CA: $12.99
.COM: $14.59
.CA is only more expensive in bulk pricing, and even then, the difference is fairly minor.

kudos:3 | .COMs can be had for cheaper than that. I think I'm paying $10/year for mine and it's on the high side of things.
Having said that, .ca is cheap compared to most commercially-managed country TLDs. |

my registrar must be ripping me off then, because they're charging $20 for .com's and $30 for .ca's. i've seen .com's in the sub-10 range before, but i've been with this registrar for years, so i'm probably unlikely to switch. |

canreg.com by any chance? I overpaid with them for a couple years before I realized how much they were ripping me off. Was incredibly easy to switch registrars, and there are lots of cheaper ones that can also answer email within an hour.
If you only have a single domain it's not such a big deal, but if you have multiples then overpaying by $15 or $20/domain/year kind of sucks. |
