Samsung. His area got SA onyx on day 1.

So does anybody like the new guide? I think its a move in the right direction, but I was hoping for it to be a little bit more like the ipad app. Not sure if I'm the only one, but it is still sluggish.

It's a tiny bit faster, but considering how much time Cablevision had to make a new guide… I expected something considerably snappier.

A few things about the new guide. The guide works better when not in the grid mode but channel mode. Also make sure in settings your box is set to 1080i and 16.9 (my boxes were on 4.3) all of the changes I disscused are in more settings. New start screen on samsung.

I've noticed that when 10pm rolls around and the box loses guide data all I have to do is just a quick power cycle and the box gets starts showing data again.

My only gripe with the guide is that when if you are looking at future times, if you hit "info" twice it does not disappear you have to hit "exit". The "info" only disappears when watching the current hour's program. Anyone else notice this?

In response to the poster who suggested that the HD settings of the Samsung box be set at 16:9 instead of 4:3.
I have been trying to do this since the new guide appeared but have been unable to do so. The box will not save the setting of 16:9. Always reverts back to 4:3.

IMO, Cablevision should have held back the new guide until all the issues were worked out.

My settings stay at 1080i and 16:9.

I think what the op is frustrated about is the Samsung boxes default to 4x3 mode when you first hook them up... If you don't go into the settings to change it, everything coming out of it is letter boxed.

And when I first got my Samsung boxes it took a few tries to get the 16x9 setting to stick.

It's been more then a few try's for me. I've gone into the settings and have tried over and over to get the Samsung box to stay at 16:9 but it doesn't. Not since the new Onyx guide was rolled out to my area.

anyone elses guide extremely slow the past two days?

first time i used it an input on the remote corresponded to an action on screen. now its lag, lag, lag.

i'm gonna try to reset the box to see if that helps.

Dumb question but I'm asking for a friend has this hit the bridgeport system yet and does it work for the 4200 boxes?

They haven't done any new rollouts in over a week. I wonder what's taking so long....

not sure if they stopped the roll out again

the never upgrade their systems in a timely fashion

the reason is they have no accountability or incentive to do so
kinda like the US Postal Service

Yes !! Im still very disappointed with the lag time changing channels etc. For whatever reason, Cablevision cant get it right. Why is Time Warners guide noticeably more responsive than Cablevisions ? I thought this new guide would solve the issue but its just as bad.

Yeah, here too. Pulling up the guide tonight, I forgot what I was looking for.

And no sign of the new guide in Dutchess either.

Poughkeepsie, and you've seen the new guide? How is that?
