Re: [iO] New Guide Rollout In Norwalk System - got the new guide last night. I have all SA boxes. Haven't played with it yet - just turned on the boxes to see if it was there and if the boxes worked. |

However, in order to not take a chance that it would not record Mad Men Sunday night I deleted the recording and when I went to set it back up I found that you can not record the same show on the SA8300 and DVR+ from the new guide. I had to go to the online guide to set up the recording again for the SA8300. |

Got it on the Fairfield/Bridgeport system.
When you change days to look ahead it's hard to tell what day your on. It won't fill up the screen either so it's not using space wisely. The guide itself doesn't change any colors when you have something scheduled to record in that channels time block.

RemyM join:2005-02-14 Stamford, CT | The guide is only widescreen on the Samsung boxes, the SA boxes can't handle it.
There is a red dot on the right side of a show's name in the new guide that indicates it is scheduled to record and also a red "rec" is listed in the show's description. |

When you say the guide is wide screen with the Samsung boxes, is the guide actually in clear HD or just a fuzzy wide screen?
I have two SA HD boxes with the old guide; is it worth it or is it an "upgrade" to get Samsung HD boxes?
I'd like to wait to see what the new guide looks like on my SA boxes first. |

They don't provide optical cables. You have to buy them if you want them. |

I am part of the Monmouth, NJ (Optimum) system and received an email today about the new guide coming.
No phone call though.
Does that mean I should expect the new guide in the coming days? |

 | Received the new guide on our SA 4200 early this morning. Already had it on the Samsung since November. The 4200 is much faster then the Samsung box. How can this be when the Samsung is supposed to be superior to the 4200? |
|
 | I've noticed the same or similar... my house has 2x 4200HD's, 1x 4250HD (in my room) and 2x Samsung boxes. The SA boxes seem to be a bit quicker than the Samsungs with the 4250 edging out the 4200s.
It puzzled me as well when I noticed the new software on the SA boxes yesterday seemed snappier than before and even the newer Samsung boxes. |

I know this has been mentioned earlier in this thread..wanted to reiterate since this is a big problem for me.
When you arrow up and down to see what it is on other channels (while retaining current program in the background), they moved the program name to the left and the channel number to the far right. Your eyes cannot view both pieces of information at the same time. You sorta need the channel number along with the title in order to add context.
Anyone else agree that this is a really annoying issue? |

Got the new guide yesterday . It's ok, one question. I am using an RCA universal remote, does anyone know how to bring up the screen with channel guide, On Demand and so on. With the RCA remote is goes right to the channel guide. |

Anyone else agree that this is a really annoying issue? Yeah, I definitely agree. When I'm scrolling through what's on it now takes me a moment to figure out which channel the program is on. I kinda miss having the channel logos there too. But considering how long it took just to roll this thing out I'm not expecting any major design changes anytime soon. |
