[TV] Cable/Internet splitters

I've been having issues with my cable TV (Rogers) and internet (Teksavvy). At first I was getting the pink box with "this channel is not available for now please try again later" then I lost connection with my internet the way I had it setup was the main coax would split in 2 with a 2 way splitter then 1 coax to the Rogers box and the other one to the modem. Splitter said 3db on each said I fixed the problem by putting a passive splitter did Rogers change their signal strength? The thing is it's working for now but it goes down after 8 or 9 hours and I have to reset everything. What could be the problem?

Call Rogers and tell them that you are having signal issues with your cable TV and they will send out a tech, do not tell the phone rep that you have cable internet with TekSavvy. When the technician is at your place have him fix the internet at the same time.
