What is the best approach for switching ISPs?

Would I order the service from the other ISP first, and then cancel Videotron? What is the best approach for ensuring no loss of service?

Just ask on the phone with your new ISP. They will know best how not to have any trouble.

OK, I did some reading and apparently EBox takes care of the transfer. Interesting approach.

Yeah but it doesn't always work.

To be sure you should call Videotron after your ElectronicBox modem is working.

If your Videotron account is still active, when you tell them to cancel it, make sure they understand that there is still a service on your cable so they don't come and put a filter on it. They did it to me, my internet and some TV channel were not working anymore.... and I was still subscribed to television with them. >.>

Depends on who you go with.

ElectronicBox will take care of the cancellation for you, wheras Teksavvy needs you to do it and then book an installation with them.

Really not sure about Acanac,Distributel and whoever else

edit: read this thread to fast..you know this

Acanac asks you for your cancellation date. They usually take about 10-14 days to install their service so just be advised prior to switch to NOT cancel your service when you submit the order... I usually tell my clients to do it 2 weeks if they don't want any down time.
