OP....No matter what you have heard here GET A SECOND OPPINION.... plain and simple.... you need one especiall if dentist you are relying on is not long time.
Just tooth hurting and not sub gums might still be saved.
Again not likely cheap CAP/CROWN, but will keep the tooth alive vs RC, by definition nerve center killing it but still rooted roto routrered.
BTW.... been there done that. There is a better pklace to go maybe.
