Re: Start Communications - new TPIA Rogers/Cogeco

Are they providing it with the latest firmware?

How they deal with the modems with older firmware?

For example, if you buy \ rent modem from them, there is a newer firmware available, do they replace the modem or ? (in case there are disconnect problems, etc) ?

tnx

This is a non-issue in Cogecoland. When Cogeco pushes out a firmware all modems receive it including customer-purchased modems used with TPIA providers. Modems purchased with older firmware will receive the latest version the moment the modem syncs to the network for the first time.

Rogers is an entirely different story.

The approved firmware releases don't change very often, the two models we use in your area are very stable - no problems at all.

I'm in the Powerline/Ivanhoe area and my speed has been solid for the whole time that I have had start (2.5 years). It's dsl 6 meg. I haven't had any outages other than a few weeks ago when Bell was doing some work but that lasted maybe 1 week and no problems since then. Customer service was good when I called them about it as well.

Edit the URL to add 20 to the last number in it.

(Next page, the 1240 will become 1260.)

The system gets wonky sometimes on long threads.
