Re: Quebec Cable - Slow Speeds (vCable)

Seems like a lot of users are saying they are having slow speeds. I've check & our pipes are in working order & Videotron confirms no Outage. But I do believe there is something up otherwise we wouldn't have so many users saying so.

Add me to the list. Was rock solid earlier... right now I've got trouble connecting to just about every page, & speed is down to about half.

Same issues here. Everything fine on the DSL line, but the cable line at work (and the one I have at home as well) are showing high rates of packet losses when doing a traceroute.

If it can help you pinpoint it...

OK guys, we've found a problem. We are now aware & our NOC is working with Videotron to fix it.

Hopefully everything will be fixed shortly.

Thanks for you patience.

Not sure if I'm speaking too quickly but it appears to be ok now. No packet loss in the last few traces.

Same here. Something fishy going on. Latencies are fine, but TCP traffic is being throttled. My interactive sessions are almost useless today.

There is no up to bulls*** on cable. You are supposed to get what you pay for (copper length has no impact on line speed with cable, as it does with DSL).

Well I'm glad we agree.

However, You might want to tell Teksavvy that as they played with this poor girls head:
»Re: Quebec Cable - Slow Speeds (vCable)
"We do sell the service as an "Up To"

Some things, like this "bulls***" (as you call it) needs to be out in the open for the people to see what TSI employee's are saying and doing to people. But I think it's condoned to try and save a dollar.

it's clear on their website ;

ULTIMATE CABLE 30
Up to 30 Mbps Down / 2 Mbps Up

you all signed up for this. now live with it and stop whining.

My underestanding is that this is in place so people don't expect constant downloads at 30 mbit/s. By example downloading a file or a torrent will not always reach 30 mbit/s/

I can be wrong...

Ok I posted anonymously last night and for some reason it didn't post. I had 10mbps-5mbps from 10 until 11pm and then 5mbps and under after 11pm.

This morning I had slow speeds and now they are even slower

This is just getting frustrating...if it continues like this today and tomorrow I will start troubleshooting... and consider if I need to switch back to Acanac.

newclienttsi (gatineaugirl)

p.s. here is my speed 10 minutes later

We did resolve an issue earlier in the day that was causing slow speeds. But that has been fixed.

So something else must be happening to be causing such a difference.

Would you kindly explain your setup, modem > voip > router etc...
There doesn't seem to be much testing performed with you as per notes on your account, other then speed tests & power cycling of your modem which restored the speed.

Re: Quebec Cable - Slow Speeds (vCable)

Just did speedtest again

I am using a router right now and I know that makes my speeds slower but based on previous comparative results its usually only a 3-5mbps difference in speed when using a router vs. direct cable connection.

Troubleshooting usually takes 2 consecutive hours out of my time so I am delaying this do this until later after 9:30pm. Hopefully it doesn't persist.

It looks like you posted as a guest and that's why it's being held by the system. When MOD approves it, then it'll be posted.

I suggest you post again and make sure you are logged in.

And no problem!

Obama won! Re-elected for 2nd term. Congrats to him!
