Re: TWC Modem Lease
This is so frustrating, to get yet another price increase. My original promo pricing expired about 2 years ago, and since that time, my monthly bill has gone up another 36% (for no additional services). This month I got the modem fee tacked on as well.
Since I have digital phone, I have one device that does both the phone and internet. So, now they want to charge me a lease fee for a modem that is part of a unified device (and that I have already had for years)??
If I understand correctly, if I now want to buy my own modem, I still need to get my current device swapped out to a phone only interface. What a PITA.
At the current $4 lease fee, it would take 2.5 years to pay back a modem purchase. Assuming they don't raise the price in the mean time, which is a bad assumption. I'm sure they will keep jacking this up as long as they think they can get away with it.

You can keep the same one...I dont believe there is a phone only interface.

OK Hob, then all that should happen is that TWC would deauthorize the MAC of my current combo MTA and Modem, and then authorize the MAC of my personally purchased modem?
Without swapping hardware with TWC, I would still have phone service, and be able to use my own modem, and not get charged the modem lease fee?
What's the likelihood of the fee magically reappearing, because their system knows I have their device (for the phone) that also has a modem in it?
