Unless your a running utilities such as AdBlock and Ghostery, you are trusting the advertisers to honor your request which is like trusting Bernie Madhoff to take care of your bank account.
I use Do Not Track Plus on both Chrome & Firefox browsers. It does not need the ad companies to agree to take part. Using that and Adbock takes care of the ad companies.
