My Charter setup is unsecured and uses Port 587. I'm not having any "slow" problems with usenet, but my usenet servers only have text newsgroups. Sorry I can't help. My mistake, I thought maybe Charter had switched their usenet service provider, and I think you're talking about a subscription to AstraWeb. Maybe AstraWeb is just having a system overload?
