Re: @DSLX_Nick -- How about a non-Java chat on website?
I wouldn't call Java 'virtually non-existent' myself (I use it on a daily basis), but I'd be happy to pass on your recommendation. Any specific replacement you'd care to suggest?
Thanks Nick; I'm not a web programmer so I can't suggest an alternative. Well, I could, but it wouldn't be based on anything other than random googling.
The best data I can find show that 1.6% of websites have some client-side Java feature. But those aren't high-traffic website, so it may be more like 0.16% of web traffic that requires Java. Pretty close to extinct. »w3techs.com/technologies/details···/all/all
The security vulnerabilities are well documented, and many security experts advise that end users uninstall Java. »krebsonsecurity.com/2010/06/dont···junk-it/
And that's the end of what I know about the subject; thanks for passing along to your development team.
