| [MoP] What was Blizzard's intention? You know, I've spent some time puzzling over this - and I honestly don't get where Blizzard is going. The new expansion is amazing - the quests are fun, the areas are varied and beautiful, and the new raids and dungeons are very cool. I'm enjoying myself very much. I just don't understand why I have to grind dungeons for VP, and then grind dailies for weeks to get the right rep to USE the VP. Does anyone have any blue posts or insight on this? I know some people enjoy dailies. I'm not on of them. I didn't mind wearing a tabard, and getting rep that way. I suppose they wanted to get people "out in the world" - but it still just seems like another false wall, a way to gate people and slow them down so they don't have to release as much content. |

| I for one wish the land expansions would stop. What I'd like to see, is a quest change. Maybe once a year, put new quest chains on the quest givers. Maybe even modify the old quest givers so they award items that are correct for the class of the quest taker.
As for rep grinding, I liked how fast rep gains were with the pearlfins [?]. It seemed like you went from zero to exalted in a very short while.
So far, I've enjoyed the quest chains in MOP. Of course, I have only one toon that was eligible for them. I'm curious as to how boring they'll get by the time all 7 of my other toons finally hit MOP. -- Is a person a failure for doing nothing? hey what if we made them do dailies!
What they really should have done is also give a tabard. Voila, choice! |
|
 | I'm with you on this one, Nick. Tabard would have given us a great choice. I speak only for myself, I'm sure there is plenty of people who love doing dailies 3 hours a day...oh wait.... |

There is still a lot of content to see. You don't want to see everything in the first week. The quests seem very dynamic. They only feel like a grind if the only reason you are doing them is for the valor or the end-rep. There's no way around that from Blizzard's end. Either they let players consume everything too quickly and then complain that there isn't anything new for a while, or they gate it and people complain that they have to wait.

| reply to Immer I can see your point, Immer. I am just one of those people (and I'm sure there is more of me) that don't enjoy questing beyond the initial pass through. I don't complain about running out of things to do - I just don't like having types of content forced on me that I don't enjoy. I've avoided dailies like the plague all of WoW except when I wanted to get exalted with P&E :P I'd just be happy if my JP actually bought things that would fill gaps in my 463 set, and if VP gear even took longer to get, I don't care - as long as it didn't require me doing daily quests. |

Questing is relaxing to me). The rep gating bothers me, because I can't target my dailies. Maybe I've decided that Shado-pan is what i want, because I'm going to craft a chest and don't need Golden Lotus (I have no idea what these factions actually drop). I'm not sure why Golden Lotus gets some special status.
Klaxxi was done right. Get to friendlyish via normal questing, honored after a day of dailies, another few weeks to revered. Why didn't the others work that way? Even if they just had some silly intro quests that jumped you to the same friendly level without an entire zone behind them? |

 | I like toys and trinkets, just from doing Jade forest I have gotten 10-20 cool things to play with, but why oh why does blizzard keep giving us stuff to fil our bags with useless items and NOT give us bags large enough to carry them all in. seriously, if you're going to give us so many things to want to carry, at least give us the bag space to hold them all.
50 or 100 slot bags should be given to us. |

I love the new areas and storylines that go along with it. Although, I do like the idea they tried in Cata with redoing old areas and making them new again.
As far as rep, they should increase the rep dailies give and give a daily rep scenario quest/thing. The scenarios are nice but really what are they for?
They also need to fix it where Alts don't have to grind rep dailies There are alot of ways to fix the rep for alts: account wide rep, purchase account wide tokens for rep or even an account bound tabard at exalted that gave rep.

I get instant ques as tank. So I have no time to do dailys while waiting.
I see the number of valor points I can get per week, how many I am getting from heroics, and decide I need more VP to make the rep even worth it, so I keep farming heroics with 0 rep.
Does doing dailys give VP? Or just unlock the VP gear with rep? |
|
gain @johnstonesupply.com | most dailies will give you 5 vp.... i'm about 75% capped this week from doing all daily quest and 1 senario. |
|
 | reply to clawfury There's also a cap on VP now, too. 3k. So you're going to have to spend it. And in order to spend it, you need rep.
Now for Klaxxi and Shado-pan, you do get some rep from normal quests. Klaxxi at least, has dailies as you progress along the story line. Shado-pan and August Celestials, not so much. You have to get Golden Lotus out of the way.
But then, if you want your legendary gem ... you have to kill lvl 90 mogu and mantid - and you might as well do the Klaxxi and Golden Lotus dailies to do so.
Also, the "bonus loot" coins come from doing dailies as well.
Blizzard did a better job of putting something in for everyone this expansion. People who don't like grouping with random people for dungeons/LFR can still get valor gear. People who have raids that might not be clearing all of a T14 raid while just starting out can still cap their VP when they have no real need to do heroics (you might have everything you need).
I look *forward* to not having to run heroics to cap my VP for the week after raiding is done. I can only put up with so many stupid people a week, and LFG/LFR will fill that quota FAST. -- When the ship lifts, all bills are paid. No regrets. |

There have been SO many cool little things that I've ended up just trashing so I can continue questing. The one item that I HAVE kept is the one that lets you "concentrate" on a critter, then it explodes. Awesome. |

| reply to clawfury My belief at this point is Blizzard had no specific goals. Instead varied committees wanted their concepts implemented in game. This looks like a result when design is by committee.

 | reply to clawfury I can't stand doing dailies. I am not sure what it is .. maybe it's the redundancy in an already redundant game ... but doing dailies makes me want to hurl.
Funny thing is, I can queue for a BG and go farm mines and do pet battles which is equally as redundant and I am okay with that.
