This is absolutely nothing new and applies to devices other than the iPhone 5. iOS devices use cellular data while in sleep mode even when WiFi is enabled and the device is in range of the WiFi network. I have no clue why it works this way but it does. I am surprised nobody complained before. I bet it's only now becoming an issue because most carriers are imposing cellular data caps. J |
