[TekTalk] Problems with SPA122 since firmware update?
My SPA122 recently (today, I think) auto-updated to the 1.2.1 firmware after Teksavvy began auto-provisioning it in the past week. However, this has proven problematic.
As far as I can tell, this firmware version is surprisingly less stable than the older version. During a call (to teksavvy's 877 number, to avoid any actual phone link involved), simply loading the SPA's webpage to look at the voice statistics causes the audio to drop out intermittently. This problem exists with both the G729a and G711u codecs.
From what I can tell on my end, this version of the firmware is worse at multitasking than the older version (1.1.0 got some light testing, I initially set up Tektalk with 1.0.1), and the kernel is not handling the network stack properly while the gateway's web page is being used. This is visible both on the router web page (with a highly variable 'Decode Latency', spiking up to 150+ms) and in a ping diagnostic. From one taken during a test call, from my DD-WRT router (so this is all over my ethernet-based LAN):
64 bytes from 192.168.1.99: icmp_seq=249 ttl=64 time=1.05 ms

--- 192.168.1.99 ping statistics ---
282 packets transmitted, 282 received, 0% packet loss, time 281018ms
rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 0.795/9.235/439.336/36.445 ms
Notice sequence numbers 250, 252, 256, and 257 are all extremely high. Those times were consistent with audio drop-outs.
I do not think this is, by itself, a fatal problem -- quick tests show that calling while not interacting with the gateway's webpage seems to work (although that makes it very difficult to, for example, monitor jitter), but it puzzles me that I'm only encountering this problem with the newest firmware update.
Are any other Tektalk users on this forum experiencing similar issues?
Well, today I had to reset the SPA a few times to get it working. It was working fine until today. So I don't know if the problem is what your mentioning, or something els. Whatever it was, I hope its resolved. My parents rely on the phone, and I just can't have it going down.
