I feel your pain man. I left Hughes.net for Windstream 1) for a job, 2) because Windstream came available to me.

Right now, my latency and download speed are not as good as hughesnet. The only drawbacks for satellite are the cap the the huge price. I hope the windstreamdirect people can help me or at least acknowledge it. Support tells me to reboot my modem etc everytime. Dont they know that I do that 10-20 times a day just to see if it will help and it doesnt.

in the evenings i like to play fps's to relieve stress. that is not an option with latency over 1000ms

you are not alone bodybagger

We tried to do some BGs in WoW just now.. the first one wasn't too bad at 300-400ms.. but just now we logged because we were over 1900ms. I gd hate Windstream so much.

In your terms of service they state "up to" X speed. They do not guarantee you will actually get that speed. They make sure to cover their asses with a play on words. Basically they can "sell" you 3,6,12 mbps and if they only give you one, they are free and clear. If you're stuck in a rural area with no other choice they know they've really got you over a barrel and can do whatever the hell they please.

At work now.. but yesterday the swap was completed. Our 3Mb line never dropped below 3Mb on multiple tests. Using WoW as a reference, ping times stayed steady ~45ms to an East Coast WoW server. On a good day of DSL working before we would see ~80ms constant.

Will keep an eye on how stuff goes over the next few days/weeks. Thanks to the Windstream techs on this forum for sticking with us here and pushing for these resolution dates.

So far so good.. Been on avg of ~46ms ping and hasn't moved below 3.05Mb/down. None of the sketchy stop/go nonsense during the tests either.

I hope all of you guys here get some relief soon. My GF's work output has increased by at least 30% now that the net is running like it should. Services that we pay for, Netflix and WoW for example, are actually enjoyable again. We still have that feeling you get in your gut when 7pm rolls around.. lol but we watch the ping times and they never go up.

I will keep updating as much as I can... and praying for the ones that need their net issues resolved once and for all!

What was fixed? Did they turn up fiber to your dslam or something like that, or was this something specific to your line?

Fiber was turned up as far as I know. We had a span that was completely down that fed back to the co. From what I gathered from a local tech.. there were 2 main spans that fed this remote. One was completely down and Windstream didn't want to spend the money to repair it while they were sitting on fiber waiting on the contract to end so they could hook it all up. Over sold in the area? Sorta.. When both spans were in full operation services were hit and miss. When only one was operating all hell broke loose.

Not a hiccup yet. Been seeing a few nights hover around 57ms but still nothing "lag worthy". Downloads are a solid 370K/sec and doesn't do the normal slowdown/speedup garbage. I hope you guys elsewhere are getting some relief.

Net has been down for almost 3 hours now. Not just for us.. but down for a friend that lives right beside the DSLAM as well. I'm assuming this entire area is down.

Welcome back typical Windstream...

Net didn't come back up til this morning.. and things are back to slow as crap. 110ms ping times. Bouncing around at 2.8 down and 0.46 up. My girl missed almost 4 hours of work yesterday and is going to have to make it up today if she doesn't get fired. We called tech support yesterday and they didn't give us any insight as to what was going on other than the DSLAM is down. This started around 2pm yesterday and they knew about it but no work was done to have this issue resolved that afternoon. We made a few trips up to the location of the equipment and no one was there. Once again, we got to see what real internet was like for 2 weeks but now it's back to the worrying everyday if our shit is going to be down or working. The assholes in tier 1 wouldn't transfer us to t2 either again expressing how much it is against their policy to transfer people to t2. What a joy...

The speeds are typical for our connection.. but you cannot do anything at all with 15% packet loss. It makes it seem like speeds are sub 0.50 down.

You got tomorrow to have it fixed or I'm taking the next step. Unless the DSLAM is melted into nothing there is no reason for this nonsense anymore.

Hate to see this man =( You were only up for a few weeks. Things happen but it sounds like they are once again back to being secretive about the issue. Can't believe even after the upgrade they are back to issues in your area. Makes me wonder how long my "Upgrade" will last. Keep us updated. Jitter on the line and horrendous ping times have been my biggest issues as well. You seemed to be one of the first in the forum to receive their 2013 upgrade, this is not a good sign for the longevity of the fix. Hope Aaron can find out what's going exactly and get you squared away.

I am starting to wonder if they even have the money to connect all this equipment they bought with stimulus money to the network. Or will it all sooner or later become fancy bird houses?

It's funny...if they put out a call to Windstream customers to voluntarily complete the work for them under supervision of somebody qualified to install all this stuff I bet they'd have all of their upgrades done in six months.

Would never happen but it's a nice thought eh?

My GF talked to a local tech that actually came out to the house today.. He said that the system is FUBAR and the people in Windstream Corp in Ark don't even know how to get into the system to fix it. He said I don't even know how you guys have internet right now because the majority of people don't have anything. He stated that our problem is now with the new system and this would effect everyone on the new system and Windstream has no idea how to fix it. This is a reason why they are not hooking anyone else up right now.

This is horrible news ;( How could they not know anything about the equipment they invested in and installed...something has to give here.

I remember when they had a tech center in Ark and was it NE or KS? Anyway, the people there knew networking and often would talk me through things because they knew I knew something.
I wonder how many install engineers they have fired? I don't think they kept anyone except sales and billing. That is really really bad news.

Maybe I need to do a new petition in our town. One that says we are feed up with Windstream and want the Cable company to invest. And we would promise to hook up with them if they install. I wonder. It would be interesting with a Carbon Copy to Jeff Gardener.

Glad to know that all this money they shelled out is a waste. Congrats WS you really do suck. Come rip your dumb box out the ground before I push it over the hill with my tractor for you. Everyday I go to work I drive by that neglected pile of $$$ that usually surrounded by hay grass and thistles. I used to find it funny when the techs stopped every Wednesday afternoon/evening to check it and had to walk thru waist high grass to get to it. One of the techs stopped me on day on the tractor when I mowing and asked me if I could mow around it. He said they have a guy who is supposed to go around and weed eat around it. I can't remember the details, but when they moved the box up on the hill (got it out of the bottom after the flood of 98) they were to maintain 'x' amount of feet around it (6ft?) and every so often (3weeks?). So now I mow around it with the disc mower for them (not my responsibility, mind you... but I won't trim around it unless they want to pay up). They had to send someone out to trim around it when they pulled fiber the last time around (and they had to hand dig it anyways). Now no one comes around it anymore. Time to get that eye sore out of my way.

Hell my Supercharged Cobalt would rip that thing out like nobody's business.
