I own a firm in the telecom sector and I have a pretty good idea why Rocky left after watching this forum for years and it's the same reason I didn't grow my business. I have had the chance a hundred times over to increase revenue by expanding which would have left me unable to offer the level of service I prefer to give my customers. Options come along and people say "do this and you'll make more money". "But I'm happy making less with absolutely no headaches" I would reply. I have never, and this is after thousands of customers and before TSI was even around, had an unsatisfied customer. Occasionally I lose a little money on a job or break even but it always comes back around in referrals and goodwill. Even though I could make much more money the stress is just not worth it. Of course this isn't possible in every sector of telecom as it is grow or die but I wonder if Rocky could do it over he would do things differently.

Thanks Rocky for all you did for Internet Access in Canada. It sure would be a lot scarier today if not for your love and care for the customer.

Good luck Rocky, although we never met in all honesty i was a silent admirer of your work (watched the youtube videos above a dozen of times). You were a good competitor and was a source of motivation for me to continue in this business.

We started both around the same time but your business had a much higher success and bigger growth. You can be proud of being behind that along with the 'dream team' human resources that you trained/hired.

I have heard a lot of things about why you left that i will not comment here. From deep in my heart i wish you to find your way and keep serenity with that decision.

It is sure not easy, it's your baby that you let go and i can testify how much work you went through.

Sincerely, Jean-Philippe Béique CEO Electronic Box.

I read and followed what you were doing during the the UBB because of you!
I respected and enjoyed your no BS manner!
I appreciated your fight against the big three for all of us!
You are one of a kind, and will be missed by me and others I am sure!
I have no doubt that you will succeed at any business venture you enter into, it's just the Rocky way!
May all that is good, fair, and profitable be with you in your new endeavours.

I along with others will miss you!

Thanks Rocky, the little guy that scraped for all of us!

Hey gang,

Not too sure what to say other than tx! I've had one of the greatest times of my life through all of you, so sincerely, thank you! Who knows, maybe we'll cross paths as I try and mess up the Mortgage and Insurance Industries! Lol

In either case, you can be sure I'll still stick my nose in here from time to time to ground myself!

Re: Rocky Gaudrault leaves TekSavvy for new ventures

Good luck to you R0CKY! You've gone from one tough as nails market and business to another. My brother was in the Insurance business and it nearly broke him as he gradually realized that he lost faith that the products he was selling *really* were of benefit to his clients. He gradually moved from the insurance products into financial planning and has done fairly well since.

Thank you for all you've done. It's appreciated!

Insurance is not for everyone. I've worked in the field for 17 years and find it very rewarding but most do not last.

I'm assuming R0CKY is still a co-owner. He's just not running the place (TSI).

The mortgage and insurance business is what you call cyclical. Of the major economies Canada is the last to see a housing crash. The last two being Australia and China. We all know who was first (America for those that forgot) but the question remains how bad will it be here in Canada. The mortgage and insurance business are not what to be looking at as they're in the midst of a cyclical downturn that could last several decades here.

I would agree on the mortgage part but insurance being cyclical depends on what type of insurance you're talking about. As far as decades of gloom and doom I think not.

Rocky's gone into partnership with Robellus, selling UBB 'insurance'.
I hear that pastures are 'greener' on the other side.

Just kidding.

Good luck Rocky.
Maybe you can sell JF some insurance against getting whacked by Bell.

From Linked In:

Through my nearly one year sabbatical, I’d done a lot of soul searching and in doing so had come to the realization that, as much as I loved everyone at Teksavvy and the Internet Access world, what had become of the business, and my role within, was too far a departure from being able to do what I loved most… deal in relationships and people! So, after a wild 15 years and with mixed emotions, I’ve decided to step away from TekSavvy. In doing so I opted to work with my brother Marc to enable him to assume my half of TekSavvy to ensure a continued Gaudrault presence in TSI`s future...

During my time off Marc took the helm, while I experimented to see what came next and, although a couple bumps here and there while dealing with strong growth, seems to have found what looks like a winning combination. Having gone through this exorcise (sabbatical) I feel I’ll be able to contribute to the world in a new way, while keeping with what makes me tick; “working with people”, but this time, trading in Internet modems for Mortgage and Insurance tools!

As I see it, this next chapter says the best is yet to come, for these two new ventures and for TekSavvy!
