one thing to note (general statement) make sure you get the right product for the job.

i would never use a linksys router in a small business environment if it didn't fit their needs. keep in mind some small businesses are a mom/pop shop that has 1 computer for 'accounting/inventory' and a linksys router would work just fine for their needs.

don't use a linksys router (or any other home rated router) in a coffee shop with a hot spot that needs guest access and port restrictions, etc.... and then complain when the linksys needs to be power cycled multiple times a day.

I agree that the Linksys update if there is one for your unit is a good possibility to try or trying the alternate to DD-WRT, Tomato firmware.

Stockfirmware that is decent is the realm of business class routers mostly.
