You can buy other brands if you want -- YMMV -- but avoid Corsair.<br><br>You will need to weigh the costs of upgrading the system from a DDR2-based motherboard (to a DDR3-based motherboard) vs. paying for DDR2 RAM.  Right now DDR2 is expensive (and for absolutely no justified reason whatsoever -- it doesn't cost more or less to manufacturer compared to 6 years ago), so be prepared to see prices much higher than DDR3.<br><br>* - Edit: Crucial is the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crucial_Technology">customer/retail-facing division</a> of Micron (the DRAM manufacturer).<br><small>--<br>Making life hard for others since 1977.<br>I speak for myself and not my employer/affiliates of my employer.</small>]]></description>
