1 edit | [Connectivity] High Latency Issues - Evansville, IN Hello
I live in Evansville, IN and have been a long time customer of Insight. I've had their 50mb package for the past year or so but around July I switched back to the 20mb package for value.
Anyway, I've never had any latency issues since about 2 months ago. Console gaming or PC gaming hovers around 110-205. I've performed multiple 'tracert' to multiple servers. My cable signal strengths are great. A tech and 2 SRO's have been out in the last 2 weeks but nothing has changed.
Is this something I should expect now that Insight is with TWC? I hate to give up their service because they've been nothing but great in this area, especially for the price.
If it was only gaming, it might be manageable but as a student, you use applications that require low latency via lockdown browser and distance education software.
Pinging google.com from cmd console produces an average of 166ms response.
After running a few tracert commands through various places (google.com, yahoo.com, weather.gov) the packet loss begins at the 3-5 hop going through the level3 backbones.

Not sure if any of this has to do anything but the Level3 is in red for critical packet loss and high latency.
Has anyone been able to solve this issue or should I just give AT&T a call because I'm not exactly getting what I'm paying for.
