[MoP] Best places to farm motes of harmony?

Last night, I got my leather worker up to 575, all future recipes (575 and up) require a Spirit of Harmony. My leather worker is still 85, and was fed leather by two other skinning toons (Vyle and Bowbeforeme). Unfortunately it looks like he has to directly loot motes of harmony as they appear to be bind on pick up.

So I have a level 85 druid, with a home in the Shrine of the Seven Stars, and some flight points out, who is in need of gathering some motes and leather along the way. The 89 and 90 level skinnables he killed required 560 skinning, his skinning is still 525.

He is poorly geared at the moment, but that will change over time.

Thanks for any suggestions.

This seems odd, I was able to level tailoring without having to burn any spirits.

I don't know if there's an inreased drop chance on anything in particular. Every mob in Pandaria has a chance to drop one.

However, I don't think every recipe requires a spirit of Harmony...usually you can do some sort of research once per day, but then you have the option of an unlimited amount of tried with X Spirit of Harmony.

there is no place for higher drop rates unless you find an area with a high count of mobs then you raise you chances of drops

While this doesn't actually answer your question (the others are accurate) ...

The best way to farm motes is to actually farm them. Once you hit Revered with Tillers, you can buy Songbell Seeds, which yield 1 mote when harvested.

At Revered, you have 12 plots, and 4 more open up at Exalted. That's 16 motes a day.

I have a feeling Golden Lotuses will become somewhat cheaper in about a week.

I haven't done that much with tailoring yet. At the moment, skinning, fishing, cooking and leather working are the closest to 600 on my toons. I already have 600 herbalism and inscription, didn't need any motes for inscription. I think there may be a need for motes for alchemy in a few levels. though that is 567 at the moment. My primary tailor is 544 and 569 enchanting, no motes needed by that toon yet.

I'm trying to get leather working then alchemy out of the way first, then tailoring and enchanting.

I see those things pop up on stuff my hunter kills. I just leave on the corpse. I'm at the point with my mining, where I'm off loading all the ores I mine to NPCs. The Auction house has a flood of that stuff for sale, hence why I just sell it to NPCs.
*I can't recall where my hunter currently is, I think it's in a jungle with lots of tigers, lizard men. There was a large cat there called Chasheen, and a snake like creatures in the water. They seemed to have the motes on them. [every so often]

I don't have bag space, plus I wasn't aware that they were worth anything. I do that with earth and fire and water stuff as well.

They stack to 200 and you can trade them to a NPC in the vale for any prof mat, or for iron paw tokens.

IMO more valuable than other prof stuff.

I've been trading my spirit of harmony for iron paw tokens to get more mats for my cooking.

But you can also trade them for a stack of cloth, some ore, herbs, pvp patterns, and other stuff.

There are some players that would cry bloody murder because they're BoP and they're farming Motes like mad.

The best thing you can trade a SoH for is 3x Golden Lotus.

'Cause all the flasks take one.

None of my toons cook. I just buy food from vendors. None of my toons heal [they either use potions, food, or cast heal spells].

You could trade for iron paw tokens and then later sell the mats you buy with them.

and iron paw tokens are currency so they wouldn't take up bag space.

so you don't have an alchy?, or any other crafting profs?

and why is that none of them cook or heal relevant in reply to me?

I have a engineer, a leatherworker/skinner/ a couple of miners. A herbelist/alchemist. I've never tried enchanting, as I've heard a lot more complaints about how hard it is to level then any other trade. Heck, none of my toons use glyphs or enchanted items.

I just started holding onto the motes of harmony.. In 2 hours I've collected 3 or 4.

You can trade the SoH for herbs.

so what do you do if you don't raid?

I quest.
I have several toons that range from 20 to 77. So all I do is work on doing a couple of quests per day.
3 of my toons are in a level 25 guild. At least one of them is in the top 10 for weekly guild performance.
Yep the guild is dead. But that is fine by me, as I don't dungeon crawl or raid. Well, ok, I do dungeon crawl, but just with my 2 kids, they have toons that are equal in level to mine. That way there is little bricking over loot. Though I typicall do a dungeon just to see what the dungeon looks like, and not for the loot. I seldom get in the rolls for drops.

This is how we played for years... although I've always pugged as many raids as possible toward the end of an expac. There is just so much to see and do in this game...

I've come across a few quest chains that knitted an interesting story. It seems MOP has more chains like that. I enjoy those chains.

And I'm happy I can't fly, as I get to see some of the interesting and frustrating terrain features.. Roots sticking up and blocking my short stubby legs...
My main toon is a Dwarf Hunter.
