[Internet] Internet Speed Upgrades?

Looks like my Lightning account which was 40/5 is now 50/6 and at work we had 50/5 and it is now 50/6. Central Florida>West Side of Volusia County.

Anyone confirm or seeing and upgrades in speed?

Got 44 1/2 down and 5 1/2 up over here in NW Polk. Even if its not 50/6, any speed bump is a good bump to me.

Been getting these speeds for the last month consistently since I had my modem bridged and upgraded to the Asus rt-n56u.

I see everyone has pretty low ping times do we know a reason why mine are higher? Anything I can test?

Mine are usually in the upper 80's.

I was noticing that higher ping time too.. It could just be the server your testing on or there could possibly be something wrong at your house.

What are your ping times using the command promp to like google or something?

Cisco Kid

@rr.com

One thing I noticed; when I run Microsoft Security Essentials Security Software....my Pings to the BHN site are 15 or lower. I now have Trend Micro IS installed, (uninstalled Essentials)...my Pings to same site around 80. Speeds are the same as measured at the site. Unless I am missing something; I see no different in my browser results when using the net.

I got 32Mb/s down when I tested mine, didn't keep the test url though. I thought I'd been switched to Lightning until I saw your post.

Edit: .03 more upstream and I woulda had 3 "29"s

Hahahah... but isn't it a little hard to ignore how MS Security Essentials improves ping times by 15 ms? I mean, test results are test results.

Maybe if I install it on my PC, nearby servers less than 15 ms away will reply before I ping them.

I am happy with my 10/1 service now showing 11+/1+. Don't know where the "delay" is when I type in a web site i.e. www.website.com and my browser says "waiting on website.com" How do you determine what the msg means, dns delay, web site delay or server delay or??

Try a different Browser maybe ? Also if you have tons and tons of Toolbar addons installed on your browser then It will slow you down big time like umm yahoo toolbars coupon toolbars search assistant toolbars radio toolbars weather toolbars disable them they will just slow you down big time
ALSO I almost forget cleaning out Cookies, temp files, history, cache will improve speed and performance A Great program i use all the time is ccleaner this program does a great job!!!

Tried several speed test sites including speedtest.bhn.net and I still get between 3 and 14 megabit speeds on a 20/2 tier.
