Thanks for the explanation nbinont. Interesting stuff! That's the 2nd time in the last little while I've learned more about DNS here.

I don't know if a simple 'refresh' after a 'not found' counts as a new attempt to resolve, but I sat there and pressed F5 over 30 times as one test (this was before you even posted your last 2 messages). Still no luck during that little test session.

Myself, I think I'll just go back to what worked best for me the last 2 or 3 years on my TSI DSL. I was using OpenDNS#2 and TSI#2; I guess some DNS benchmark told me they were best, out of the ones I told it to check.

I'll keep my start.ca DSL line, using their own servers, since they are 'local'.

It's a bit more complicated than that. we in fact we have 4 DNS servers and all of them are *both* .22 and .170 so whenever you do a DNS request you could randomly hit any of them.
