CCV = crank case ventilation and relates directly to engine oil.<br><br>I will trust a guy who has 30+ years experience and has zero vested interest in suggesting anything less than 15K-20K miles.  As I have said - I know of no one - including engineers - who think that 'lifetime' fluid and 15K mile oil changes are a great idea for the long life of a car - any car. Synthetic oils have proven themselves in engines for decades now. For less than a quart capacity filter, I'd change it at halfway point and add oil to top off system back to full. For over a quart capacity, then it can go as long as the oil. Especially true for those that leave the oil that long but do not change the filter...<br><br>BMW started 'lifetime' fluid for many things - not even shade tree BMW mechanics - not the BMW mechanic in Roundel magazine (30+years experience I believe) - would consider any fluid to be lifetime.  Well - BMW has defined lifetime at 100K miles.  For most owners who get rid of the cars before that are ok and it can go.  Anyone who wants to keep the car for 200K+ miles will do fluid changes at a much more reasonable interval.<br><br>Lifetime fluid changes came into vogue when luxury car manufacturers started to throw in the first 3-4 years of service at 'no charge'.  To keep from having to pay for those changes - they just increased the interval. Again - lots of people hold onto these cars for 3 years then get the newer one and for them - the fluid change interval is fine. So yea oil of today isnt the same as oil of yesterday. Even at 100.000 miles the computer would suggest to change it because of carbon build up not because the oil broke down.]]></description>
