[NCAA-F] Penn State molester Sandusky gets 30-60 yrs in prison

Well the sentence is in and the Penn State child molester Sandusky is sentenced to 30-60 yrs in prison. Given he is 68 yrs old, chances he will die in prison are high. Pa law doesn't allow parole until the minimum 30 yrs has been served.

Re: [NCAA-F] Penn State molester Sandusky gets 30-60 yrs in pris

Yeah, he's screwed...in more ways than one.

Prison inmates generally don't take well to child molesters. Doesn't help that he's not remorseful at all. Guess he's going to just have to get used to his 13" TV with 15 channels and avoid contact with everyone...

Part of Sandusky's pre-sentencing statement:

quote:
A young man who is dramatic, a veteran accuser, and always sought attention, started everything. He was joined by a well-orchestrated effort of the media, investigators, the system, Penn State, psychologists, civil attorneys and other accusers.

»usnews.nbcnews.com/_news/2012/10···ges?lite

That is one incredibly far-reaching and incredibly well-orchestrated conspiracy. Almost beyond belief, one might say.

Most would lie on why they are there, and prison inmates don't have any good way to find out. Sandusky, on the other hand, is well known.

The title of this thread and how the media just LOVES to throw "Penn State" into everything as if the University's name and his sick, twisted name are one in the same.

Why not "Molester Jerry Sandusky..."? Why the need to throw Penn State in there. Geez.

Since the PA governor and DA were complicit or looked the other way, why not just say "Pennsylvania" and throw the entire state into the same boat.

Because people may forget Sandusky's name in relation to the incident. But everyone in a sports forum will remember it in relation to Penn State football. It is a reference correlation that Penn State can't avoid for a VERY long time.

Total pile of crap. So we are supposed to blaspheme an entire University just to remember a horrific incident committed by a single extremely sick person and covered up by a handful of others?

Oh well, ignorance will always abound.

From the beginning of this story, apologists and deniers have tried to point a finger away from Sandusky, Paterno, the University, away from the culture that allowed these incidents, not one "horrific incident", to occur, and continue to occur as one blind eye after another was turned.

This is about innocent, vulnerable children being raped, betrayed, abandoned, then slandered by many adults in positions of authority and responsibility in the Penn State culture, who abrogated those responsibilities, by lawyers trying to pull some fantastic defense out of their ass.

This is about a sycophantic, morally bankrupt culture of coddlers and exploiters of "student" athletes who are given passes for the homework and tests by which the general student population is measured. This is about how a culture of idolatry of the charismatic Joe Paterno led to so much harm for so long to so many children. It's not about how your JoPa rags are tanking on eBay or how various alumni feelings are hurt. What is truly ignorant is how so many are, still, unwilling to shoulder responsibility for this schools toxic culture in order to make it better. What's truly ignorant is to expect there to be justice for the children without that being done. It's about the kids, not you.

Way to completely take what I said out of context. Where did even BEGIN to imply that the children weren't the most important thing? I was simply commenting on the fact that the media is basically slandering the entire university every chance they get because they know "Penn State" in the headline will get them more read/clicks/ad revenue/etc and the topic of this thread is following suit. That sickens me, but it's the corrupt US media and it's par for the course now-a-days. I'm sick of people concluding we are ignoring the children just because we're trying to defend our University.

I really take offense that you think the University is only about football. I happen to be proud of the education I received, it was top notch. I wouldn't be where I am today without it. And yes, I refuse to "shoulder responsibility for this schools toxic culture" because you have no damn clue what the culture is. Did you attend the school? I'm so god damn sick of people like you with no clue assuming the University's only reason for existence is football. Hundreds of thousands of graduates, students, faculty and employers of PSU grads would disagree with you. Sure, football was, is and always will be a big part of the University. Take any top 25 football school and the football craziness is there, too. Penn State has one of the highest GPA and graduation rates for FBS football schools. But you neglect to consider that, how convenient. But maybe if you were speaking generally for all universities when you say "This is about a sycophantic, morally bankrupt culture of coddlers and exploiters of "student" athletes who are given passes for the homework and tests by which the general student population is measured.", then I would agree.

pflog,
How is the media slandering Penn State when Penn State and officials of that university are guilty in this case?

Because the entire University is not at fault, but they use every wording trick in the book to make it look like a massive University-wide conspiracy involving 100's/1000's of people.

There are literally a ton of people out there who think Joe Paterno is the one who is the child molester. The media is 100% to blame for that. And when he died, and they couldn't use his name anymore to draw clicks/reads, they started using Penn State in the same fashion. Paterno was wrong for not doing more, no doubt. But really? The general public is so misled by the media that they think HE was the child molester? Ridiculous.

That is Sandusky's own claim. Not only the university, but the media, the legal establishment, the accusers, "the system", the general public at large, dogs that play poker, Elvis, and anybody else you might care to point at or feel like tossing into the mix.
Wide-ranging, to say the least.

Yeah I still can't believe his statement. Dude is BEYOND delusional. Those poor kids, maybe once he's been in prison and experienced his own trauma he'll admit it and give those kids at least some small vindication.

These people are just nuts. Blaming everyone in the world, even their son.

Jerry Sandusky and his wife Dottie wrote defiant letters to the judge before ex-Penn State football coach was sentenced

quote:
Dottie Sandusky wrote July 9 that she never saw her husband do anything inappropriate to any child, a statement that echoed her trial testimony. She was deeply critical of her son Matt Sandusky, who had been expected to be a defense witness until the trial, when he claimed to investigators he also had been abused by Jerry Sandusky.

Matt Sandusky has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder, “but he refuses to take his medication,” she wrote. “He has had many run-ins with the law and stolen money and items from our family.”
