Re: [Voip.ms] Failover options when server down
said by Davesnothere:It's possible, but I can't find it now.
Direct Media - This came up also within the long CallCentric thread, did it not ?
said by Davesnothere:Yes, the audio flows directly from the carrier to you and it will not pass through a server at CallWithUs.
Does this mean that the actual audio data flows directly between the various parties of the call ?
said by Davesnothere:That is correct. A lot less server load as only the SIP data will pass through the provider server.
That would soitainly sound to me like less server load for the provider.
said by Davesnothere:No.
Does CallCentric support Direct Media ?
said by Davesnothere:Correct.
If not, then that would explain a lot about the call quality being poor even after they first set up their alternate SIP registration servers during the attack - if their SIP servers ALSO had to carry the audio content.
said by Davesnothere:Anveo = No
Is Direct Media also supported by Anveo, VOIP.MS, and any other of our most discussed VoIPPs here ?
Anveo Direct = Yes (inbound only)
VoIP.ms = No
Voxbeam = Yes
Other of our most discussed VoIPPs here = No, with a few exceptions.
Please note that Direct Media often doesn't work for SIP devices behind NAT.
