There wire from DIN is cat6e. It runs 34 feet from NID to DSL modem. All test have been ran with cat5 cable straight from dsl modem to Laptop. I did speed test in safe mode to make sure its not spyware or mailware virus etc. Tryed 3 diffrent computer to varify results. My download speed are .98 down .72 up. I'll reboot dsl modem my speed stays same .98 down . 72 up. After 11pm my speed it 3.11down .72 up. 730pm at 830pm speed is at .89 down .95 up yes that not a typo. When my download speed drops my upload speed somtimes jumps to 1mb???? I called Verizon 21 times lol. They said my DSLAM at local OP is conjested. But when I get transferd to tech thay test the line and it say ething looks great!!! But my local OP says no its not. And I need to be moved to a higher data speed and less conjested DSLAM. I'm 4100 feet from OP. So is there anything I can do? I already ran CAT6 wire from NID straight to DSL Modem. Already changed out DSL modem with new one sent by verizon. Its a DRY LOOP dsl line so there no DSL filters. No alarm. I'm at a loss...Did I mention That im a network tech. In I cant fix my own stuff... Gesh ... |

hmmm, sounds like you've thoroughly checked everything on your end, and then some. i'd say it's probably a congestion issue with the switch/router on verizon's end, this kind of thing is becoming more and more common with overselling areas, and making everything worse. the person who is saying your dslam is congested is correct, and so are the people saying your line is ok. the fact is, both are true. aside from your upstream being slightly out of sync (not an issue, mine is same way), your line is in good condition. the techs don't check for congestion issues.
not sure what tim_k's current situation is, but he is the one that usually takes care of this sort of thing. let's hope he comes along.
if that fails, ask to go to a higher department, and see what they can do, and if they can send a tech out while it's having the issue (make sure to state that you want them to come by ~8pm). |

Set your Wireless encyption to WPA2-AES and change your password.
That should fix your slow bandwidth problem. |

I'm using a modem with wireless off. Modem test are with cat5 cable straight to modem. So nobody on my wireless signal, But thank you for info. Its a congestion issue. They found the pipeline in Selma ca is at its max load. Until the replace it with a larger pipe. There is nothing to be done. Its do for a upgrade in the fourth quarter of this year..Fingers crossed,,,PS I'm a network IT. So that why I posted all info before posting. I went to verizon direct and it took three days to trace it out to over used pipeline in Selma ca. Which is 56 miles from me. My OP is 4100 feet from me. So its routed threw my OP to Selma via wireless??? Um ok. |

That should fix your slow bandwidth problem. That will not fix anything related to congestion at the aggregation router. |

its not slowed down from somebody on my internet. I dont even have a wireless router enabled,,,, Im hard wired. So if I dont even have my wireless router on, How can somebody get on my signal? So why would changing my password change anything? |
