Depending on what version of that router you have, you can flash opensource firmware to it. Not sure about Tomato, (previously mentioned by trparky  ), but I just recently flashed a WNDR3700 with Gargoyle (based on OpenWRT)

The WNDR3700 also has builds of DD-WRT available, as well.
So if you're looking to breathe life into your old router, you could use one of those...but the WNDR3700 stock firmware is perfectly capable for your 30/5 connection. |
