*Nay*

For the same reason as stated here: »Re: [new forum] Request for a new forum

I'll play devils advocate here. If I may.

We have seen a couple of the resellers ask for their own forum. All were denied, with the exception of teksavvy, due to there not being enough traffic to justify it. Instead other resellers were told to bring traffic up in their "adhock" forums or elsewhere in the forum, such as the Canadian Broadband forum.

In the Videotron forum where the OP linked to this topic, »[Internet] I have made a request....., it appears this request is based on the excitement or anticipated excitement of there finally being an affordable videotron reseller.

More or less it's based on one topic only in particular in which the Videotron reseller, ebox, is the main focus; »[Internet] Fournisseurs independants.

One topic isn't much of anything. Acanac has tons more.

In the English Canadian Broadband forum there are more topics about ebox, but again this is a spike due to the new cable reselling prices.

There are more Acanac posts in that forum as well.

So if we apply the logic that the "gods that be" here have stated over and over again when an ISP requests their own forum, it would appear Acanac would/should have their own forum before ebox. Though I don't think Acanac is really that interested anymore since they prefer people to go to their own forum on their own website.

But just based on the numbers and the prevailing logic here, ebox shouldn't have their own forum.

Also since there is only really one topic in the vidoetron forum in regards to ebox, and which is the basis of ebox wanting their own forum, does it justify having their own forum? Seems more like someone wants more exposure and nothing more. The Canadian Broadband forum seems adequately suited for this ISP as it stands.

In addition to this, is there anything unique that an ebox forum would bring to the table? I can't think of any other than adding a French reseller to balance the prevailing English reseller. And yes, I do think this is a positive (just so you know). So it would most likely be a predominately french forum or a fully bilingual one which could serve to educate more people in terms of the great Canadian Telco/Cableco rip-off.

/end playing Devils Advocate.

In addition, Start is magnitudes smaller than the other so-called indi's with only a trivial amount (one or two topics) in Canadian Broadband forum and not a heck of a lot in their own forum found here, »Start Communications, even though that forum link is spammed in Canadian Broadband for their users to see and use. This is in addition to the link given at the top of the Canadian Broadband forum to all these small resellers, »Canadian Broadband FAQ »Canadian ad-hoc forum listings

Would be quite the slap in the face to others resellers like Ebox, Distributel, and Acanac as well.

So for these reasons, *Nay*.

I partially agree with what you have to say!

And only thing I want to say about the above statement is, I am sure Admins/DSLR has their own set of rules on how they work. I don't believe, the theory you described, applies in their rule book!

I agree! Independent ISP's in Canada need more exposure!

Yes, and I expect that there are some decent USA Indie ISPs who need more exposure as well.

But I digress....
