Re: Dawsonville, GA - SLOW AGAIN Stay tuned folks... In my last posting located at:
»[Troubles] Georgia - Paying for 12mb. Getting 1.5mb.
I was able to get a response from WindStream Execs. I emailed them again (2 days ago) because I am once again having the same slowness at night problem all of you are having.
We will see what they have to say this time. -- -- DawsonvilleG

Wow! This time I got my speed back by 1:00 am. Should I be happy? No! I'll be happy when I have this speed at all times like I am paying for. |

 | I there. I too live in Dawsonville, GA. I have Windstream DSL service (12Mb/s) and am having the same problem you are having. I'm getting very slow download speeds during peek hours. Did you find a solution?

2:33 pm and my upload speed has eclipsed my download speed. At this rate, my connection will cease completely within the next hour or two. |

Cleveland, GA. Supposed to be 3mb. What is going on? |

1:36 am and I still do not have my purchased speed of 12mb. My speed has been fluctuating from 1mb to 4mb from 2pm - now as I type this. This happens every day. Sometimes worse. Hardly ever better. I pay $60 month for 12mb download speed. WindStream thinks it's reasonable to offer me a monthly discount of $10 for this.
What do you all think? Is that reasonable? |

After midnight the night before school starts back and I still cannot get my purchased speed... |

According to one of WS executives I have spoken with, my speeds should be back to normal during the day as all the kids have returned to school. When the kids return home from school in the afternoon, they see a spike which causes me to begin loosing my speed.
It's noon on the 7th. I do not have my full speed. It is better. But still NOT what I am paying for. |

Re: Dawsonville, GA - SLOW AGAIN windstream has been pretty consistent with my 3mg connection, but its far beyond what comcast offers.....the problem is windstream and dawson county are not letting any competition from other isp's to be allowed in dawsonville
competition is the only reason a company will spend money on upgrading their network
i guess untill the people force the dawson government to not allow windstream to have a monopoly in dawson,it wont change |

One of the WS techs has said that tests from speedtest.net are not reliable. I disagree. For the sake of argument though here goes. I'm paying for 12mb.
I think it is safe to say... Regardless of the test, I am not getting my 12mb. |
