Maybe the WS tech was right? Although he said the speedtest.net test results were not that reliable. Looks to me like it is WindStream's test that is not that reliable tonight.

@windstream.net

I moved to Dawsonville Forest apartments back in July. I have dealt with poor internet speed since. (I moved from the boonies and never had issues like this.) I am paying for 6 meg. Many days I get less than 1 meg. In November there were weeks and weeks where the internet would go down every evening around the same time (peek hours of course). Sometimes it did not come back until morning. I rely on the internet to do my job. I have reports that have to be sent daily and I can't rely on windstream to get them there. Each call I am given latency outage replies. I realize this stuff does happen, but for 6 months? And if windstream knows it's going on, and knows they are having issues, why are they still charging me every month for DSL service they cannot provide? I have yet to see it reflected in my bill (although this month they did not charge me because I called). If you can't supply service then sending out a bill shouldn't even happen. Or at least knock off an amount on every bill that reflects the loss of speed.
I have been with Windstream since the beginning. Before that with alltel. Before that with STC. All companies that were absorbed by Windstream. That means I have been with the company as a whole for 20 years. The only time I have seen issues this bad was when I lived in a rural area and it took an act of God to get them to check the box down by the road. When they did, low and behold it had damage on the inside due to rain. I pass by the large switch box( not sure of the correct name but the larger unit that's almost the size of a car) every time I leave my apartment. I have seen a windstream truck once parked beside it and never anyone working on anything. Something has got to give. I don't want to leave windstream but I might be forced to if things don't change very soon.

Hopefully, you have another option. I do not. I would encourage you to start your own thread here and begin posting your speeds like I have done. When you post a new thread, you sometimes get lucky enough to have one of their techs try to help you. It may be that you have a problem at your dslam that they can fix. That was part of my issue 2 years ago. When they fixed it, I was better. but it did not take long for me to begin dropping again.

The main this is to log this so that you have a record. Don't get your hopes up though. Even if you get your speeds adjusted, you are still going through the same trunks I am. Which means you will have slower speeds at night when everyone is home using the net. The higher ups at WS have told me we will not see an upgrade until the end of March. And I've heard that before. So far they have missed every date they have given me.

How I wish I had these speeds in the evening.

At least this proves I CAN get the 12mb I pay for. And it proves my equipment at home (dsl modem, router, personal computer, and cabling) is functioning properly.

I wish I could post my speeds. Unfortunately the pages won't load or time out because my connection is so slow.

ACW-
If you get a moment please consider joining the website and sending me a PM with the phone number associated to your DSL line. I would be happy to take a look and see if it is anything that can be fixed in the near future.

Thanks Aaron for helping him/her out. While you are at it, can you please tell me what upgrade we are getting that is going to happen by March 31st that will fix Dawsonville's problems?

I am referring to the upgrade Mollie Chewning at WindStream has informed me about.

Details please? Is it new OC3 equipment? DSLAMs? Etc.?

(To all who are following my posts,
Notice that Aaron came in and offered to help another anonymous user who posted in my thread. This confirms that some of the WS techs actually read your threads even though they may not respond to them.)

I've been away. But it looks like things have not changed much. Still blazing fast at night here.

I have started noticing things getting pretty bad over the last week or so over by my house. I have been disconnecting intermittently.

I would suspect the weather and possibly some moisture problems...but honestly doubt that is the problem.

I am researching what it will take to get on the NGN - »northgeorgianetwork.com

I am hoping that my home business will qualify me for this. ....Here's to hoping !

Maybe that is the WS upgrade ? - connect their net to the NGN ?

more than likely you have the Same issue that everyone is getting. Windstream being the Enron like company that it is IE poor management. has oversubscribed. so there are too many people for there bandwith. so the connection is good when everyone is asleep. but sucks the moment the majority start to get online.

Yes. I have that issue. I've been fighting it since 2010. Document, document, document... Call your reps, file complaints with state, FCC, etc. Don't quit.
